An apprenticeship is usually just like a full time job, but you can work part time as well. As long as you are working for an employer that will sign you on, doesn't really matter how many hours you work. Just the more hours you work, the sooner you gain the skills, the sooner you will get done. Trying to complete an apprenticeship while also going to university full time would be a pretty tough thing to do. Not saying it can't be done, but it could take you a while to put in the hours required.
hmmm...interesting...this is tough...maybe I will just learn mechanics through practice then, because I think I would rather go to university and finish up Automotive Engineering first. It sucks when I want to do a bunch of things at the same time, but there is only so much time and so much money to support it.

Finish up Automotive Engineering? Are you at UOIT in Oshawa?
I'm graduating from that program this year, and completing an apprenticeship concurrently with this degree would be out of the question for myself. Only a few people in my program even have a part-time, non-intensive job.

So, your other Automotive Engineering friends are having a hard time finding a job? Hmmm...this is discouraging to hear...I really want to work for a racing team.
no I'm not, I'm currently finishing up my business degree at Ryerson. However, my passion lies in automotive industry, and really want to become an engineer, so I want to go to UOIT and take that after I'm done getting my Business Degree at Ryerson.

Getting a job after graduation has not been a problem; I and other soon-to-be grads have already found employment even before finishing the degree.
I definitely recommend the program though, youtube the ACE building at UOIT; if you have any questions please feel free to PM me.
I must not have been clear. While earning my degree, I didn't have time to work and get a job, either did other people in my program.
