ON Carbon Fiber Hoods for fc

Hey guys (and girls)

Im interested into grabbing a carbon fiber hood for my FC.. but I have a trust issue when it comes to shipping to Canada. Has anyone bought one new from a specific company in the states or overseas? How was it for the shipping? Any damage? Im also not sure exactly what I want, I hear some replica cf hoods are great, while others dont line up and look like crap.. if anyone has some insight I would appreciate it greatly... maybe Im just better off waiting to find one for sale on the forum..

I should lead off with saying I bought an FD hood, but anyways...

My CF hood literally just arrived today and I just put it on my car. (I never really wanted one, but my car's hood was pretty badly damaged during shipping from Japan).

I bought a VIS racing Fuzion hood off of ebay from a seller named Trader Nas. I had no problems with shipping (however the shipping was $300. It arrived today special delivery, all customs fees paid by the seller and in perfect shape. It bolted on directly with an extremely minor alignment issue that was corrected in seconds.

I was satisfied with the transaction and would buy from him again. However, it should be noted that his ads say you'll get a set of free hood pins with purchase. After I bought the hood I was promptly contacted and informed that the hood pins were out of stock. I was slightly dismayed, but his communication was excellent.

Hope my experience helps you make a decision.

(I'll post pics of the hood later, I'm not at my house (my car is stored elsewhere for the winter) and I haven't unloaded my photos)

I picked up a Shine FG hood in May, I shipped it to Port Huron Michigan, drove down, and picked it up, the guy charged $5 to take delivery, and it was 60 something to get it back in the country for duty, I think total i paid less than 600 or 700.

Friend got a shine hood delivered, cost $200 to ship, and that is a flate rate, they will put as much stuff in the box as possible (if you have other buyers, then it brings the cost down) friend ordered a hood, I ordered side skirts, rear spoiler (x2) and front lip, it all fit In the box, so it was the flat $200 rate...

Do you know where he bought it. I'm looking for specific trusted sellers with a good product

Um, he ordered it from shineautoproject. They're a vendor on this forum. On the home page, under vendors you can see they have their own subforum. Just call them, but keep in mind shine MAKES their own stuff, so if they don't have anything premade you will have to wait until it is made. Best bet is to start a shine groupbuy with other people in this section so you can split shipping/customs. I'm down to buy some fenders or something...

Jebus that picture is huge...

and its either bad fitment on the hood, or your bumper has the *sag* that effects quite a few older FD's...

and since I'm feeling generous this evening...

As stated in my post:

"Car still needs a lot of work"

The front bumper is garbage, it's on my "to replace" list, just like the hood was. This car will not be road ready for 2 years.

I would go for the vis racing fc drift hood. I was skeptical at first from the pictures I've seen. Went to a meet and seen an fc with it, and it was perfect fitment. Don't order off there site though, to pricey.
