Canuks represent. DGRR 2013 April 18th to 21st.

Well yet again the DGRR is back for 2013. Been going for years and there was always a strong representation from us Canuks, So who is interested? I am planning on going with Derry and Marco (Just need Marco to finish his ride!). Not sure if I am hitting a ride or providing a passenger spot or bringing my 89 or my 10th AE (Have to receive it from the paint shop and put it back together. )

We are thinking about going again this year. Didn't make it last year. It's the same weekend as the Grand-Am event at Road Atlanta, so thinking about doubling up.

I've been looking forward to going down to DGRR 2013 for months. I may go down a few days earlier, just to enjoy the road before it gets conjested.

But like always, organizing accommodations seems to be a challenge.

If someone wants to book a cabin, and accept me as a roommate, I'll paypal you my portion ASAP...no backing out. (I can BBQ for supper and make pancakes in the morning, just throwing it out there...)

You need to take the Blue Ridge Parkway down. (Might Join you for that drive down) Then hang out at the DGRR, Stay Sunday and run the gap on the way home monday.

Derry suggested he will book the cabin this year. Might be better to only book as many people as rooms unless someone wants the couch/floor. I know I must have a bed. LOL.

So far...

That would be enough for one cabin I think. More the merrier.. And cheaper.

I've got a race at Watkins Glen the weekend before. I likely can't do both. I really wanted to go again this year.

I wish it was only 1200km. It's about 2700km each way for me, and we've gone twice. If your car can make it, it's worth it.

Its very fun! You have all winter to get ready, get on it! The roads are amazing. Youtube the tail of the dragon vids. It's an awesome crowd too, everyone there is a rotorhead. Your car breaks down, everyone swarms your car with tools in hand to try and lend a hand! There's been full tranny swaps in the parking lot and countless repairs LOL.

This meet looks way cool!

If I went, I would probably trailer the car behind our Motorhome. Probably get better gas mileage that way, lol. Just got back into drivin the old girl after 20 plus years of storage and can't believe how much fuel she drinks.

But then Redshft reminds me about the Grand Am race at Road Atlanta and I think I might be more inclined to camp there for the week. Could still bring the car. I do the Petit Lemans at RA every fall. I don't think you could do both events that weekend and enjoy it. They aren't that close in distance and the race appears to be on Saturday.

It would be a bit of a compromise I will admit, as you would miss a bit of each event. But they aren't THAT far apart. At the 2011 DGRR, about 30 or so of us drove down to Road Atlanta on the Sunday morning for The Mitty because Mazda was the featured marque and Jim Downing was the grand marshall, and they were doing a Mazda parade lap.
From memory, it was around 90 minutes or so each way.
To be honest, the road we took down for a chunk of the trip (28 South I think, as opposed to Hellbender 28 North) was actually my favorite road of the whole trip. Almost no traffic, and a much nicer flow than The Dragon (although not as many corners.)

It would depend how into the car show on Saturday you are, as, really, that's the only thing you'd miss. All afternoon is usually "free time" where people just go drive the dragon a few times. To be honest, if you had never done the DGRR, you would probably want to be there for the show. But, if you've done it before, the Grand-Am race is tempting. (I made it to Daytona and Lime Rock last year.)

Lol, the Grand Am is more than tempting. I have friends that own a couple of Ferrari's that will be racing there. Last year I went to the their race at Road America and both of Watkins Glen Races. Two years ago it was the Glen, Road America, Lime Rock. B4 that it was VIR, ....................

Was really hoping they would do Mosport this coming year. Oh well, I'm sure we will have some Canadian content in the truck race. It will be fun.

Love Road Atlanta. Once I'm at the track, I'm there for the duration and wouldn't leave till Sunday.

Okay, I may have just convinced myself. First Camping road trip of the year is looking like Georgia. Great trip to shake off the winter cobwebs. I'll take the old girls, car and wife.

I've been to Deals Gap before, but I wasn't driving and it wasn't in an RX-7. I really wanted to go back with my FC and drive it myself. We actually went just after DGRR in 2011 and I kept hoping we'd see some RX-7s, but no luck.

DGRR is tempting this year. But hotel space is a problem, especially cause I don't know anyone on here. I'm good with floor space if any is free though.

I just wanted to check out their website Nantahala Resort
It looks like they are under new management.
I wanted to check out their rates.
Ian, did you want to get a specific cabin? At the top of the hill? or on a lower level?
