Calgary 7s- Is your Car in Tune?

Answer these 3 questions in your replies

1. Is your Car Dyno or Street Tuned?

2. Who Tuned it?

3. Anyone interested in trying to Bring Steve Kan to Calgary for a tuning session?

1. street tuning is preferred and realistic, my car ran great on the dyno yet had some detonation on the street, had to stop and correct.

2. I do my own, but my car is old school. If I had an FD, I wouldn't dare run without a wideband and a knock warning system (check out Sean's car if the Premier picks up the gravel throughout Seans anticipated driving path and if the Mayor takes a straw and sucks the water out of every puddle in his driveway, otherwise it'll never leave the garage).

3. There is someone reputable in Red Deer for tuning from what I understand. I say buy the right stuff, start learning and start conservative.

For your information, my car is on the road. Fired it up briefly on Sunday, then splashed some water on her last night and went for a cruise. Nyaah.

I think one of the issues is that there simply arent the cars in Calgary that would require the type of tuning your talking about. Calgary has some nice FD's but the the vast majority are not modified to the point a pro tuner is neccesary, they either a) Run fine in their modified form or b) Don't require any tuning at all, cause the power levels are basically stock.

And as for FC owners there are some highly modified units out there, but the owners have long since abandonded this forum for another so........

And a highly modified FB is a rare bread indeed.

Trying to organize and event like this is a step in the right direction for the Calgary car community in general, but in order to make it happen you'll have to expand the scope, see if you can find some interest from people who drive cars other than RX-7's like on www.beyond.ca.

Funny you should put it that way, because I get a stiffy when I see the first streetsweeper of spring.

Veru good suggestion. Perhaps someone could tie the tuner and Toma (dyno) together....

The idea is good, I just think that Calgary isnt at the point yet where the rotary community alone can demand such an event, I think it will need help from owners of other vehicles as well.

That was supposed to be a secret. Knowing how busy he is it could take a while to get it working though.

Hmmmmmmm, yes that information wasnt public knowledge yet. Not sure Max really wanted that revealed to the world yet. Anywhoo I guess it's a little late now.

None the less. If he's building you a motor, or built you a motor he's probably willing to help tune it. He knows what his motors are capable of handling and how they like to be tuned. He can not garuntee the build quality of another builder so he probably won't touch it. Just so there is some clarification, the principle reason and purpose for purchasing a dyno was for his own personal use, with his own cars.

lol yes i pretty much know why he got the dyno and what his plans are for it......i jus didnt know it was a secret.....and yes he is building me a motor and most likely tuning it for me as well.....condsidering the ppl here in edmonton dont know what they are doing in terms of rotary.......jus ask him about my old motor i had in my car he will tell u all about it.....and BTW im sorry again for saying the dyno stuff....if i could edit it or get one of the mods to delete i would.....i was only doing it for teh good of max becuase i knw how many haters are on this board.....BTW TD07 whats ur name i think max might have mentioned u before to me...

I wouldn't mind checking out a tuning day! mine is supposed to be tuned here right away but if it falls through I'd be in. I'd like to come down either way even if it's just to watch!

For those interested Calgary has a new Rotary Pro shop, with an in house dyno, and tuning available by "maxthe7man" or "maxt" as he is sometimes known. It's called KKM Industries Ltd, and located in Priddis. If you would like info you can P.M me, or come visit Max over at the following link:
