Brand New, Never Sold '95 FD
Brand New, Never Sold '95 FD
Today I took the wagon in for an oil change at my Local Dealer. I was chatting with the salesman when I spotted a PRISTINE Montego Blue FD parked outside. And there is a good reason for its condition... It's brand new! A couple months ago they picked it up from a dealer in Miami who never sold the car (probably because it's an Automatic...sigh....) It still has the original sticker on the window! $40,679 USD. It has a build date of 12/05 so it is one of the later produced FD's for North America.
He opened up the car for me to look inside, and the odo reads just over 200 miles. Not 200,000... 200! Everything about the car is absolutely brand new. It even still has the new car smell! What's even funnier, is that Mazda will still honor the original warrantee that came with it!
I asked if it was for sale, but it isn't. They are opening up a new showroom, and this will be a featured car in it. I snapped a few pics on my cell, sorry for the poor quality. Great to see one in such great shape, and even nicer to see a dealer embracing the rotary and Mazda History!

I dunno.
I'd pay sticker for that if it was manual...
Not sure I would for a car that I'd do a tranny swap to though.
I bet if I had $30K to spend on my FD I could make it that mint
what a damn nice car.

that's awesome. i always wonder what it might have been like to walk into a showroom and purchase my FC brand new.
there's the whole appeal of having a car that no one else has really touched before. it's a clean start.

I would love to open that door and just look inside and then take a big sniff of that new smelling interior! And no smart asses telling me to just go to a local dealership and smell any new car HAHAHA

The inside of the car is perfect as you'd expect. The leather still makes that squeeky noise when you sit on it!
While of course everything is for sale at th right price, the salesman told me that an offer of the sticker price wouldn't be enough. My response was "Yet". Right now the dealer's owner is extatic to have the car and can't wait to showcase it. Give it a year or two of it taking up precious realestate in his showroom and I'll bet the novelty will wear off and the car's availiability will be a bit more realistic!
We at Scarboro Mazda sold the last new 1995 in Canada March 30, 1996. The vin # was JM1FD3336S04000007, meaning it was the 7th 1995 produced. We got the car from Mazda Canada in Feb 1996 and put OZ Racing wheels and a Mazdaspeed rear wing on it for the Toronto Car Show. Every dealer in Canada tried to buy that car from us but it went to a retail customer. Mazda Canada hung onto the car for over a year to put it in the 1996 auto show. It would be interesting to get the vin# of the Montego Blue one and see what comes up. BTW, the warranty on the Montego Blue one would have started when Mazda USA paid out the dealers on the remaining 2005 models. If that were the case my 1990 Race car would have a warranty on it because it wasent registered until 2004. I just checked the current history on that car, the guy owned it until July 6, 2001 when it was traded in at Heimrath Porsche. It was then owned by a Discount Car and Truck Rental until May 31, 2005. It now resides in Mississauga Ontario and has current plates on it.

And in 2 weeks I shall be enjoying the same thrill as I have for the last 8 years in my FD...the mountain roads to Fairmont in the springtime...free of tourists and pebbles...the reason I own the car and the reason God gave us adrenaline.
I wholeheartedly agree about the manual. I'd much rather have one. Im just saying theres nothing really wrong with an automatic. I say that now because my wife cant drive manual, as persistent as I have tried to teach her. So a few of the cars we owned in the past couple years were high performance sports cars with automatics. Being forced to drive it has made me.........appriciate its purpose a little more.
That and I have a bad habit of riding the clutch from time to time.
But I been working over the wife in the last year and shes starting to like the Idea of owning an FD more and more. An Automatic FD for herself, that is. Hey, if my next FD is an automatic and I have to wait to buy another one for myself in manual? No Arguement here.

Somewhere in Vancouver I gather. I'm going to make an offer everyday until they place a restraining order on me.
Wife gave thumbs up to an FD, only if its automatic. All things considered, Im going to wait till early next spring before I start shopping/considering.

The car is owned by Wolfe Langley Mazda, and will be on display once they finish their new showroom - which is scheduled for June 1st.
