anyone in Ottawa want to brake some legs?

There is a guy here in Quebec (which is probably not even in Quebec) who is trying to scam people with cars for sale. He is selling cars on a very popular local classified website and says he is from Montreal and is moving to US so he needs to sell his cars quick so he sells them basically for half price. I sent him an e-mail concerning an NSX, knowing the price was too low, just to see what kind of scam he was doing.

Usually what you get is a guy saying he is from Holland and the car is in the states and he will have it shipped to you for free, etc. But this guy seems to be in Ottawa. He asked me to send him 8000 for deposit through Moneygram. He actually built a false e-mail coming from the classified as if they were acting as a third party member, a little bit like escrow.com does, the only problem, that classified website doesn't offer that kind of service.

He wants me to send money to a Moneygram post in Ottawa, anyone over there interested in meeting him with a baseball bat? I am of course only joking about meeting him but still, it would be a relief. I was crooked 6 years ago on a thing similar to that, before it was popular. I was crooked on RX-7 parts using Western Union from a fellow Canadian also. Since that day, I always had bad feelings when those type of things happen because I always remember that I lost 3000 into this. And the worst is that the RCMP and local police can't do anything about this or should I say, don't want to do anything. I know he will catch a couple of people that are unaware or not used to doing internet deals.

Should we start making our own law and give those guys what they deserve?

Here is the address he gave me by the way, probably an empty appartment

781 King W, H1T 3W9, Ottawa, ON, Canada

Sorry, just had to vent a little, thanks for listening

that adress doesnt pop up to me in ottawa, but theres a few in the states. Dont know if you send him money gram how it would actually get to him if the adress doesnt exist, unless he has hookup in the post system.

geez you are right about the postal code.

I beleive he can actually just get to any Moneygram location to get his money, he just needs to make a fake ID and he is able to withdraw the money at the post office directly.

The Postal code is for the odd numbers from 6883-6969 Rainier Street in Saint Leonard. For it to be in Ottawa it would have to start with a "K". In case you were wondering, substituting a K for the H still doesn't make that address legit.

I hate seeing **** like this.

Lots of suspiciously cheap cars for sale on kijiji.ca as well. I saw a M Coupe for sale for $10000 that was for sale in Stoney Creek. I also noticed a banana tree in the background. Sent him an email- no response. Same thing with a 2005 R32 that was never sold and can't be registered in Canada- for sale: a STEAL for $7000. All ads are the same, long and accurate believable description, seems legit- crazy low price, no phone number and four good pics of the car.

by the way those cheap car adds on kijiji are email counters, what it means it stores your email to sell it, etc.

thats why you will never get a responce back.

I think everyone just needs to bear in mind, if you can't actually go see the item, except for through companies with good reputations and have safeguards in place to protect everyone (as best as they can seeing as its the internet) then don't even take the ad seriously. Anyone that goes after the ad, A: isn't paying attention, B: is going to learn the hard way. I'm always afraid of getting screwed over, so when it comes to sales and services, I become very paranoid. Even on ebay someone managed to steal $50 from me for a wiring kit. Never jump on these "oh so sweet" deals. Take the time to look into it, and make sure the seller is legit, and never, ever, ever, ever use third party payment. If the seller isn't willing to make his personal and contact info available, then they aren't worth dealing with.

It's funny cause my postal code starts with H1T as well. This is very close to my house. lol
Too bad it's a false address otherwise he'd find out how hard it is to get rotten eggs off his front porch, windows and car.
