Anyone know what this tag means? Scarborough Mazda guys?

Hey Guys,

Picked up an engine a little while back and it had this tag on the front over of it that I've never seen before. The engine is a 12a which appears to be bone stock. Now I was told the engine was bought through Scarborough Mazda in the early 2000.

If anyone know what this all means that would be great!

Thats a Re-manufacture tag.

All the pre-Renesis engine that Mazda re-manufactured got those tags glued to the front cover.

^ that's correct, and having new housings would depend on what the rebuild centre had available at the time of reman.

If the engine was remaned by Mazda In colonial heights in Virgina then they do a pretty good job at inspecting the engines and replace parts that need to be replaced and reuse what can be reused. I was talking with one of the technical trainers that run the Mazda training classes, he was telling me a few stories about them taking several worn out and failed third generation engines, cleaning them up and putting them together. Then dyno tested it and found the engine ran perfectly.

As a random bit of info, these stickers seem to be held on with heat sensitive glue. If the engine overheats, they fall off.

I think you should keep the tag ON,that way if your Temp sensor goes out,you just look at the Tag to see if it is still there..if it is,you are OK..Engine is still Good!!
