Anyone know this RX-7？
Planning to by this RX7, anyone by chance know this one?

From my understanding of what the owner says, there are some problem with the cooling system(temp sensor). Is that something major? Cause I don’t know if a simple fluid change will solve everything. Also should I consider accident when buying this car? Since only the front bumper is replaced and the left headlight is not seems to be in the perfect position (if you zoom in on the front picture). Just by looking on the mileage, I guess the engine is still in a good shape? Anyway, this is the first time I’m dealing with a Rx7, and I’m totally a newbie. Also, this one is probably the only Rx7 available in my region. So should I buy this given the price is 12.5K? Please help a brother out! Thanks guys!

Sad to see another FD in such rough condition. Hopefully it’ll serve as a good parts car...

if this is your first time dealing with an RX7, you want to pass on this. This car looks like it’s been through hell and back. Sure, you could pick it up for maybe even 10g’s, but you’ll regret it.
Sad to see another FD in such rough condition. Hopefully it’ll serve as a good parts car...
Just curious how did you tell the conditions for this one? Any tricks I should learn when it comes to RX-7? I can only tell that this is not in a good shape but I never thought it’s gonna be this bad... thanks again! I really hope I can learn something here.

Here's the thing it's probably badly tuned or not tuned at all his coolant story wouldn't change the fact if he's running rich the thing is all RX7's run rich as a failsafe and or in comparison to other cars or it could just be a lot of carbon build it which might call for a rebuild. Never baby and RX7 if you here that they "baby" the car don't buy it. I don't think it's a bad deal but you'll need to spend some money on it. Realistically if you break it down it's almost worth 10k in just parts. 3500ish just for the 99 spec front end it costs 2500-3000 for the engine and tranny it's got JDM back seats Americans will pay a lot for that 500-800ish and you can sell misc parts here and there for another 1000 dollars for misc parts here and there and you can get at least 3 grand for the roller plus it's a 92 so you can sell it in America. There's a lot of win here but if you plan on driving it around and keeping it which I assume you do, look at insurance because most insurance companies won't put coverage on it trust me I know lol. But if you really want it get a compression test done and at least a Power FC and get it tuned properly and you could have a good car here. It doesn't look that rough to me sure it's got mis-matched paint and black looks a bit faded but you can bring that back to life.

before you go all the way out there to check this out, go here. It’s more local and this gives you a good reference to see what a proper maintained FD looks like

I don’t have a lot of mechanical knowledge, and I’m just into cars for few years, still just a boy like cars. So for this one, seems it’s already well modified (except something need work on fuel system?). I understand that more complexity means more risk. But will it be smart just buy this and have fun for a well and not worry other stuff (except I will do regular maintenance)? This one seems very complicated to me but if it’s a reliable and fun car, I really don’t mind. Besides, I might not even do a good job if I do the modifications myself given that I currently don’t have much knowledge about it.
hope I can hear and learn from experienced people like you, I don’t want to regret afterwards for both money and the effort I put on these cars.

Like Neo, I'd most likely pass on that one. If you don't have the ability, tools and time to work on the car yourself, I can guarantee you will spend more than the difference in prices trying to get the 1st car to run as good as the 2nd one.

Yeah! This is the first one I saw on auto treaded. Everything is in perfect condition, just the price is not something I can currently afford. Also do you think it is smart for me to deal with a highly modified RX-7 such as this one:

C$12,000 is a very reasonable entry fee to join the exclusive ranks of the owners of the FD3S. Make sure you have an extra $10,000 in your back pocket and $5000 per year after that to keep it going or add the mods you want. You are not just buying a car, you are joining a community that provides incredible friendship and support - as this forum (RX7Club) amply demonstrates.

i have been watching this ad for awhile now it has been up for a bit and even considered trying to buy the 99 front end. doesn't sound like anyone knows the vehicle around the gta though. i will give the benefit of the doubt and say that it could be the temp sensor and/or +++.
for a noobie i would buy a running version instead. much easier to get started in the rx7 world.

Lots of good advice and comments here, +1 for the community 
For the particular car you linked in your first post some things to note:
1) Find out if you can even insure the damn thing. It took me 6 months and a **** load of restrictions to cover my RHD.
2) Owned by a broke *** student - makes my very worried about maintenance. Plus the addition of speakers etc usually speaks to the type of owner..........
3) How long has it been in Canada and what work has been done? As Redbul will probably agree, too many RX7 arrive in Canada and do not get tuned to the gasoline and altitude and end up wrecking the engines.
If you want my 2 cents I would ask you think about the following, you don't need to answer here, just think about it. How much do you have to spend, how much can you set aside to keep it running and how much do you want to learn to do yourself?
The reason I ask is because there are a few paths you can take here. Unfortunately with an FD, none of them are cheap. You can buy a rough one for under 15k and sink thousands into it. Even more if you are paying for the labor. BUT at least you know what was done to it. Just don't expect to be driving it much while you sort it all out.
Or you could spend a lot up front (25k+) on a "sorted" car and everything will be great, but bad luck could still land you with a 5-10k bill for an engine rebuild.
I guess what I am saying is make sure you have a healthy reserve fund and don't rush into a purchase. These cars can bitch slap your bank account.....trust me this is my 3rd FD and I still have not learnt my lesson
The best advice I can give is to get to know a local reputable rotary shop first. Then you could ask them to do a mechanical inspection and compression test on any potential purchases.
Another option is to get an FB or FC. Use that platform to improve your mechanical skills and learn about the cars in a much more affordable way. I built a beautiful, fully restored FB a couple of years back for under $12k. Something to consider.
