thats such a PITA though especially without a hoist, and i don't feel like doing the 5speed bench press. i'd probably pull them together.
I'm just really freakin busy these weeks. even more so then before christmas.

...a couple things I learned from pulling my 13B from an FB last spring. I also asked for some local guys on the forum to help me (an amateur) pull the engine.
1) breaker bar
2) deep socket set
3) tin-snips work great on stubborn oil lines
4) don't give them beer until after the motor clears the engine bay.
Good luck!
I will come, provided no one want to go snowboarding this weekend, but don't expect any quality advice or knowledge from me. But i don't mind bleeding, sweating and swearing, as that's mostly what my attempts at home repairs on my rx-7 have consisted of.
Suggestion for you since it sounds like you might not have done a lot of mechanical work before - grab a box of ziplock sandwich bags and a permanent marker - great for keeping all the nuts and bolts and small assemblies you remove organized, so when you're putting it all back together you're not digging thru a bucket of fasteners trying to find the right one.

K thanks Crymson, send me your Cell number and we'll try to set up a date.
And thanks Gman and RX7racerca for the tips. I am not all that new to doing mechanical work on car, i installed the intakes, and fixed a fuel line problem with the FD, and other things on other cars, but definately not something this big as taking an engine out! haha.
thanks again,

So yes, Gman. The good luck, will be helpful

I took a cardboard box, poked holes in it and when i plugged any bolts into the holes I marked their home with a felt marker to make re-installation much easier. Are you getting a rebuild done??

This weekend i can't as my GF gets back from vancouver. next weekend i can. look for engine cranes at princess auto, they've got some good prices. tools i found u don't need much, 10mm 12mm 14mm 17mm and 19mm wrenches and sockets, prybar, side cutters and that pretty much it. just having confidence makes it soo much easier. pulling the engine apart is a different story all together. like i said though i can help next week
If the motor isnt built yet Id suggest avoiding RA seals. They arnt what they're cracked up to be. Ask maxthe7man he went through a couple sets of housings and rotors running those things. They warp, they wear poorly. Lots of people report hot start issues with them once they get a few thousand miles on them. Stick with stock seals, they're always the best bet.

I wish I could offer to help, but I'm in the midst of a motor and transmission swap on what should be my daily driver, so I'm a little busy, and less mobile than usual.
