Anybody working in automotive related industries?
File for bankrupcy on a Friday, rehire non union on a Monday. Slash a ton of white collar weight. Dump the whole Chevy-GMC, Ford-Mercury bullshit. Get right back down to basics, simple, well built cars people want not what you want them to want. There will need to be serious job losses at both the plants, the office, and the dealers. But it's the ONLY way any of these companies will survive long term. Othwerwise we might as well let them fail right now, cause all your doing is postponing the inevitable. Tough times ahead, trying to avoid it with bailouts will only make them last longer.
I'm self employeed in the electrical service industry. I have yet to see a slow down, but I see it coming. Takes time to hit me since I am slightly removed from the oil industry. We in Alberta need to see the price of oil climb back up or we are in for a real ride.

Looks like the industry is getting some relief short-term. 17 billion for the US and 4.2 billion for the Canadian side. This is for Chrysler and GM only. For some reason Ford did not want a bailout. Maybe they are smarter/quicker at restructuring then the other 2.
