Last night we had several Rx7's out. 3 FD's, one FB, and one FC. It was nice to see a few different generations!
Another night and another disappointing performance by me. First run out can you guess what gear I missed again, 3rd gear again!! I think had Nick not been there I would have been screaming in my car like a lunatic but instead I only cursed at myself for 10 minutes
2nd and third run were better with the third and final being my best so far. I still have lots of improvements to do cuz I suck ballz.
Once I got out of the whole and in to second things go much better for me. I think1/4 mile is all a bout the start. Too much gas and you spin, not enough gas and you bog. Anyway on to the times - I will get the exact info later. Here is the basics though.
RT .3 something - better but still terrible
60ft was awful
1/4 was 13.6 @ 112MPH
Nick took in car videos of the runs. He might post em when he wakes up.

I had a great time! Double_J was nice enough to bring me along for my first real track event, and to watch his crappy racing skills!
I'm unsure how to post the actual videos on this site, but here are the links to all 3 runs starting from the first.
1st run http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9eQ4yAq1-8
2nd run http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0nIgI_5quY
waiting in line for 3rd http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyNTQBPdtcM
Final and best run http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTe0H6pgyQI

I did a 13.3 at 108.7mph with a shitty start, I thought that was pretty good. At least for the mods I have done and my minimal race experince. I jumped early my next runs. I was trying to get into the 12's. I found out on the drive home that I am not getting any boost out of my second turbo, so I guess I have some work to do.

Ok, so I finally ended up going and the funniest thing happened. So my first run I was thinking ok do a light launch at 4k using the clutch to go and such. I ended up doing a 12.3 with a 0.99x second reaction time. So then I thought to myself, great the car can do 11's easy if my reaction time isn't terrabad. So go again and rev up to 5k dropping the clutch, end up with a 12.8 and a 0.6xx reaction time. 3rd run, try 5.5k RPM and did even worse, 13.5 with a 0.3xx reaction time. And the final 4th run, 6k RPM and did a 13.6 with a 0.088 reaction time!
Ok, so I got my reaction time down but my ET got worse. Explanation is simple now that I thought about it. Basically when I drop the clutch car has no torque so the tires don't spin and it just drops down to idle almost (track was prepped) and then crawls and eventually builds boost and goes. When I did the first run, I actually used the clutch a little to go so the turbo was loaded a bit before the clutch was released.
Anyway, pretty satisfied with the my very first run since in my mind its an 11 considering the 1 second reaction time. I know the car can definitely do an 11.3 just based on that and most likely better if you read below.... I actually think 10's are within range once I fix my boost problem and ain't worried about burning the clutch to load up the turbo on a launch.
On a side note, my car was overboosting due to (finally diagnosed it as the wastegate failing) to 22-24 psi when I had it only tuned up to 19-20 psi. Because of this, it entered my "safe area" so it was running silly rich (10.2-10.5 AFR) and retarded timing of around 5-6 degrees. I highly doubt I was making more power despite the boost so I was probably in the ~450 rwhp range if I had to guess. It definitely didn't feel any faster then normal.

I have a thought based on a video I watched on youtube.
The two cars lined up and only one left. It crossed the finish line, then the second car left. It blasted down the track and posted an 11 second time.
Obviously his reaction time was near 12 seconds while the other car did its run. But he still posted an 11 second run. This would indicate the reaction time was not factored in to the over all time. It would appear that the counter did not start till he moved from his line.
I am not sure if that's the same for all tracks but it was clear how it worked in the video. Perhaps the more seasoned 1/4 mile guys would know more.
