AB Alberta Rotary Meet 2012

So I organized one of these with my old car club and I'd like to do it again this year with my new car club (you guys!)
So what I was thinking is around late may early June we all book 3 days off and hit up a track somwere around red deer (or whatevers good) on the first day for drifting, than that night we go out to a campground and have a fire, smores, few beers, whatever we bring and decide on, second day we go for a cruze, hang out, than hit up the track again for a drag session than another night of camping and havin some fun, third day we all pack up, and head home (pretty much break off into smaller groups for the cruise home), or whoever hasn't had enough we could go for another cruze.
You don't have to camp or even come to both events, basically do whatever your down for, main thing is having fun and getting to know the guys in and around Alberta (you can come from anywhere but the location will be decided by were the people live in Alberta)

Rules- rotary powered ONLY
- if your drinking you don't drive till your sober (so no going for a cruise if you've had a few drinks)
- we are reppresenting the rx7club, so please act accordingly and if someone mouths you off let the cars do the talking, not your fists (be the better man basically)

I will be planning this meet by your requests, so throw me your idea's and the most popular 3 ideas will be what happens for these three days.
Also if you have ideas for campgrounds, cursing roads, or anything really post it here and we can all decide on what to do.

EVERYTHING is up for debate, from what days to how many days to what month (as long as it's summer weather), I will post a list of attendees on this post and update it every few days.

PM me if you are coming, and if you've told me your coming and you find out later you can't make it than tell me so I can take your name off the list and change appangements for camping.

Same as 84, plenty of notice would be great..

I vote for a track day. I'd love to get some tarmac under the 7 this year. At a minimum we could rent the parking lot at deerfoot mall in calgary. Autocross is always going down there.

Can I come even if the RX7 isn't up and running yet and I'd be rolling in a Jetta? 5 months ish is pushing it to get everything done in time ... we'll see though, maybe this will help with the motivation. (Although more motivation = way more money spent)

Well it looks like we've got about 3-4 others besides 84stock & prodigy2nd so it's coming together ok.
And yeah the meet will most likely be held in Edmonton considering there is only 2 calgarian's interested, so if you know of anyone in Calgary with a 7 who'd be interested tell em to throw me a pm and my mind might change.

I don't want to get i tuned until I finish the rest of my planed upgrades

(whats your plans for the blue caged beast..?)

Maybe we can get a nice get together and early showing by participating in Deerfoot Malls spring thaw car show in late april.

I could persuade a buddy to bring his v8 rx7 and maybe a second as well. And there is another with a 10AE too.

I can commit to bringing my 2 rx7's.

Be sweet to have a few together!

I think it makes more sense to hold the event in July or August. This would give everyone more time to get their cars together and running smoothly (assuming a track day is in order). The only suitable track I can think of would be Stratotech in Fort Saskatchewan.

http://www.stratotech.ca/

I have no idea what the cost to rent the track would be, insurance is also another issue that would have to be looked into. My guess is we would need a sizeable group to make a track day feasible.

Also I think we should not limit the group to rotary powered RX7's. I know of a non rotary 700 whp FC that would be interested.

Just my thoughts though, what do you guys think.

There's lots of junk yard special Rx-7's around. I mean V8 swaps. Its great to see them make lots of noise and under steer around. Entertainment for Hours.
