3rd Gen Mechanic

Hey folks - I haven't been on here in quite a few years. Anyone have recommendations for a reputable 3rd generation specialist in or close to Toronto?

Is there something specific you require to service?
3rd Gen specialists are practically non-existent nowadays... I'm sure if you look around Mazdee's old area, you might find some of the guys that use to work at that shop. Otherwise, you'll probably want to start learning the intricacies of the FD.

I've been thinking about taking my FD to Joe Ferguson in Kitchener when it's time for a rebuild. He seems to have a decent reputation.

Joe is definitely the man. However, keep in mind this isn't something he does as a regular thing anymore. He works for another company and only does rotary stuff on the side. If you expect it to be an actual shop and have a rough time frame on when you're getting the car back, I wouldn't hold my breath.
This being said, if it does come down to having the engine rebuilt, Joe is definitely the person I would want my engine rebuilt by.
Hopefully though, I won't be doing that anytime soon or if ever.. time flies and I'm pretty sure I'll never have to get the engine rebuilt again as long as I'm alive..

Trust me, I know they're non-exisitent, that's why I don't trust 99% of mechanics to work on it. Don't need anything specific - just need a mechanic who can properly tune it. I've owned the car since '96 (it's a '93 Touriing version Titled through Prima Mazda in Brampton back in '93). I've worked on the car alongside various mechanics over the years, including Ontario Mazda when the car was still under warranty, M2 Performance out of California in the early 2000s, and a 3rd Gen specialist in Texas who recently retired.

Did you end up with RX Performance or another spot? Pretty much in the same situation and the car was taken care of Mazdees in the past.

Cansaf Auto in Oshawa, reputable shop you can take your 3rd gen to.
These guys don't dick around and go ghost like other shops do..and they answer their phones.

I tried calling CAN-SAF for help a few years ago when I was trying to sort out my emissions issues and they never called me back... maybe I should have been more persistent.

I recently spoke to Mark at Mazmark in Scarborough. He came recommended and we had a good chat. I'll be doing some basic maintenance myself and then will take it to Mark for a more indepth look...if needed.

Mazmark fixed my hood release when it broke a few years ago. They are solid.

HiWire
Sorry about that sometimes we get super busy and get a lot of calls and we might have forgot to get back to you. If you are in the area stopping by and talking to us can be better or sending an email for a reminder. I apologize for the no call back.
