2007 Steelback Grand Prix Pics
Did anyone from the forum go? Saw a couple of rx7s there. They wouldn't let me take a picture of hte underside of Pobst's Mazda6 when it was on jack stands. Anyhow here are the pics.
Alan: How many coats of wax did you put on your car? Doesn't wax weigh something? Too much weight is not a good thing.

even even even even more pics.
I was glad to see Tracy crash out on the 1st lap. I still remember when he ran out of gas. I think I was the only bordais fan in the crowd.
But damn the field is small. I haven't followed Cart really since the days of Gill De Ferran and Rahal's dad driving around. I miss those days. It seemed like they had 3X the field size.
To be honest the best race of the weekend was the Speed Touring GT race on Sunday.

Nice pics Cheers.
I'm with you with the whole series. I haven't been following it since all the good drivers moved over to IRL.
The cars have gone downhill since that break as well.
I tend to find the ALMS series more entertaining to watch nowadays. Open Wheel racing has taken a nose dive. Including F1.

Thanks for taking the pics of my car! It was in the CASC/BARC/CTA display. If I could only keep it from breaking parts everytime we run it that would be grand! We have done a tranny, clutch/pressure plate, rear shock perch and wheel bearing so far this year! That equals one failure per test or dyno day!
Jason you should have let me known you were coming down. Champcar assigned me to Minardi Team USA for the weekend, they were a great bunch to work alongside. As for comparing Champ Car to the CART during 1985 to 2000 you're right but the more you know about it the more interesting it is, notice I didn't say exciting exactly. I too miss the days of 26 or 27 car fields but I'm satisfied for now, remember the Ex is one of the cheesiest tracks on the circuit and I think the dollar did affect what once was a huge attraction to our neighbouring Americans. I think Champ Car has put together an attractive package for prospective new teams, but TV coverage and production needs a workover, etc. The current field has some great talent, the media keeps harping that it's a revolving door of drivers though which I think will change. And if you want a pic of a Tri-Point splitter and undertray let me know... lol

It was from a car club that drove up from NY. They had a bunch of nice cars
That shroud for the I/C was an interesting idea...didn't look like it fit very well. Never seen one like it before

Mazda is a huge sponsor in the Champ series now.
The announcer probably got confused between the Atlantic series and Star Mazda series.
Atlantics are now the 2.3 MZR engines while Star Mazda has Renesis RX-8 engines.

Well at least I now know who was messing around with my car when it was on display, LOL.
Also the Star Mazda series ran as a support race at the ALMS weekend at Mosport for the last 3 years as well.
Joe, it looks like Saturday was the best day of the weekend. Sunday was all rain and humidity. You should have seen us trying to laod the car in the heavy rain.
Oh well, there is always next year.
