1st Real Test At Shannonville!

We went out yesterday for our 1st all out test with the new Danny Manning Engine, Mazdacomp delrin bushing and revalved Bilstein shocks. Last Sunday we spent 5 hour lapping a 1/3 mile oval running the engine to 5000rpm to do the initial run in. The new engine is AMAZING! Our old engine was very peaky and only made power between 7500-9500 RPM. Danny's engine starts to pull hard at 5500 rpm right to 9000, and still pulls to 10,000! The car was very stable and fast, I think we will have a problem breaking out of GTB (our class) at Shannonville. The only issue we have now is the carburetor and not too many people have information on a Holley carb on a rotary engine. The cars great but I think there is more there with a good set up on the carb. We will keep you posted.
ps. Ian, if you thought the car was fast last year.....................wait till we lap at Shannonville this year!

Well if you drive that car as fast as you were heading up to shannonville towing the FC then you will do just fine I would have came to shannonville but I was just on my way to get my car with my brother to bring it to Obrien's for the roll bar. That car looks so clean on the trailer Get it dirty yet!

I hope to have a few track days and my racing tire on next time we are on the track together Keep us posted on your track days and lapping days.

Ian

I got pulled over coming down the 115 towing my 4 foot trailer behind the protege, at 160 km/hr. it was 2:00am and he was hiding in the center median area. he let me off because there was another emergency I was sooooo lucky that time.

apparently the 12 inch trailer tires are rated for like 100 or something....

I wouldnt put the delrin bushings on anything I was going to drive on the street. The set up on the race car is harsh just driving around the dealership parking lot! I cant imagine what it would be like over a pot hole or expantion joint on the highway. Mazdacomp makes some competition rubber bushings for cars that the rules state you must retain stock rubber bushings----however they are 40% stiffer than stock! Those would be the only thing I would run on a street car. I wouldnt even put eurathane in a street car, they creak and squeak as they get older.

Yes, but with Ian, you are talking to a guy that goes 98 km/h on the highway.

I got a ticket in a diesel vw jetta, towing, 146 in a 100.

so gay. Not even possible for the car to go that fast but the judge didn't care

Towing at 120-125 isn't bad depending on the trailer though. I brought a BMW back from the states a few years ago on a Uhaul trailer with a Uhaul pickup and all through the states was going 75-80MPH without trouble.
