i couldent finnish watching that i made it somewhere around the fifth part the guy looses to a civic in his so called 450hp rx7 and then hes like "so i figured out the problem, i was to do with all the mods i did last year, now i had to buy this lap top just so i could tune it" and he dident think about that befor? lol and then he beats the crap out of it on the dyno, trying to tune it during the runs, and blows it up.

aaroncake: Is it safe to say that everyone shown in that video is a complete douchebag and should be removed from the gene pool before they pollute it further?
Bwek, do you seriously think Mr. Cake (or just everyone with a 7?) street races? I've seen his drag strip videos and postings, so I think it's safe to assume that's where he's primarily torn up his transmissions (and original NA diff, iirc), although I do remember him one breaking from a roll in 3rd or some such to get in front of a semi on the street - Aaron himself can comment on that. Point being there's a difference in rolling on it hard for a moment or two to merge or just for the hell of it, and actually racing other cars on public roads though. Anyway, I hope you're just teasing and not suggesting street drags are the norm for performance car owners.
As far as the source, I think this was a CTV W5 episode - though I don't think it's as old as '98, I remember seeing it on tv years ago, but I'm sure it was well after I had my 7, which I got in '98.
I'm pretty much of a mind that street drags are f***ing retarded. I love speed, but really, what's wrong with taking it to a drag strip or track, other than the legality and reasonably safe and controlled environment? Most decent cities and a lot of larger towns at least have a drag strip, if not a real track (Calgary may soon have neither, but we have f-tards in city admin and council, so that explains that).
It's not just that street racers lose control and kill bystanders or passengers or themselves, although all those do occur - it's also that people get killed when unsuspecting motorists blunder into the midst of a street race gathering and hit or get hit by racers, or mow down crowds milling about on dark streets at night to watch the show. I'm sure many of us remember this incident in Maryland from a couple years back, when a driver plowed into a crowd of people in the wee hours standing in a cloud of smoke on a highway after a couple street racers peeled out.

I seem to recall a couple of Vancouver cops have been killed by streetracers in the last decade - not in highspeed pursuits, but because their cruisers got nailed by racers. Which is the kind of crap that helped lead to ridiculous "street racing" laws like Ontario's, which give the police a lot of power and basically violate due process and habeas corpus in the name of protecting us from the street racing "menace" (ignoring for the moment that the case that actually prompted the Ontario law in fact turned out to be the supposed Civic-driving young "street racer" travelling at legal speeds and getting hit by drunken dad out in the minivan with his family and getting himself and his family killed - precisely why police should not be empowered to hand out immediate and arbitrary punishments like vehicle seizure for simple accusations of traffic law violations).
Anyone care to guess what I think of the Fast and the Furious movies - quite aside from the fact the dialog and plot were both likely written out on a napkin by a 13 year old - one napkin, then recycled 5 times. lol.

This is living Proof that they are "screwing with Interbreeding".when they Interviewed that Guy.
They should have just interviewed a Damn Donkey..it would have known More about the Car than he did.
But he did Prove that he is a total Jack ***.
..and then you wonder why "Us Good Folk" get stopped for doing absolutely Nothing. It's People like that, that have given up the Car communities as "meat" for the Police. Now the Police think everyone that has a Fast looking car is a street racer...Thanks..you Jackwagon.
One bad apple does spoil the whole pie.

I remember that doc. That guy also had a modded 323GTX, as well as a turbo Miata on top of the 7. He raced each one and lost each time. Then during the interview it was nothing but excuses.

Street racing will always be there, as it has always been.
Secret street at the track, pay $30 to spend 4 hours being lucky enough to get 3 runs on some friday nights here. Something is always broken with the timing system.
I point out who I would like to run against, since I expect high 13's, **** that, they line me up against a known 11 sec car. I waited an hour for that?
On the street you pick your opponent. The big difference is where and when. The big boys play where it's safe and nobody, that's "nobody" stand in front of the launch point.
Been there done that, I for one will not race my car through a column of spectators standing on the curb.
The kids on the other hand, back street industrial roads lined up down the block along the launch point.
Not being an advocate here, but like burgers some like Peters and some can never grow out of enjoying a happy meal.

There will always been street racing Its not something that can be realisticly Stopped right now
We all do it in one way or another weather it's some punk at a light or a transport truck we don't have the patience to wait behind, it's your mom in a rush to get home its your son wondering if his civic is faster than the mustang next to him
I for one will Admit I did Race a Civic at one time and yes it did have Nitrous, I Never Raced it in a city, at a stop light or during the day I did it in industrial areas with No lights to blow through, no stop signs to run and no blind intersections
Was it Illegal? Yes, was it the smartest thing to do at the time? no, When we raced did we try to make it safe as we could given the circumstances, Yes everytime
What gets me is that the kid with a civic decides to race in a busy part of a city and a light turns red and he runs it, THAT pisses me of because that is as careless as it comes And it the polar opposite of what me and my friends use to do at night
i now prefer to do back country roads on my own late at night, if I see a deer at least its only Me im taking out

If we didn't drive like that, we'd all have smart cars, and toyota echos. I don't agree it's a wise decision, but technically speaking, bwek is correct. I still think the cops should shut down an industrial road in each city every sunday for races, or give the people a track that's 'local' not an hour and a half away. Not everyone can afford trailers and all that stuff. If you haven't launched your car from a stop to pass the vehicle beside you before, "cast the first stone"
on a side note, i saw a cop doing burn outs at a gas station earlier tonight...he was stunt driving...
