13b !?
this is a really... really. stupid question. i know. but i really just do not know what to do LOL
I have the 13b from my 87 t2 sitting here. I am aquiring my new motor this weekend and im pretty sure that this 13b is bad, but i dont know since it ran. what the f should I do with it? take it apart take pictures and get you guys to tell me what to do or what sort of money would an "unknown" condition rotary with *some* background info be worth
please someone, hold my hand and clean the drool off my mouth.
thanks

Do a compression test by turning the engine by hand to see if you have 3 compression faces on each rotor. Use a flashlight to peer inside the exhaust ports at what you can see of the apex seals, rotors and housings.

Maybe we can arrange a time during the next week to make the exchange?
As for your engine, you can perform a quick and dirty compression test with it sitting on the floor. Put a socket on the front hub bolt and spin it over manually. For every half turn, there should be one "chug" from the exhaust ports. Do this with the plugs installed. 3 turns and 6 chugs means that the engine will hold compression and probably run fine.

There is a lot of controversy regarding aftermarket apex and o-ring seals.
I would recommend putting together your own kit with Stock Mazda apex and teflon oring coolant seals.
Here is a good thread on the rebuild parts list comparing some kits -

Dealer prices are all over the map - some less, some more, some big parts way more - price it out. Don't forget to add exchange rate, s&h, brokerage, gst from the states.

Take the engine apart and sell it for parts. You'll get more money that way. You'll probably end up with a good rotor, rotor housing, two side housings, center housing, TII oil pump, etc. Look at what people are selling those parts for and you'll see that you can sell that stuff for actual money.
for all you know you the seals could just be really dirty and stickin a bit you should have gave it the water treatment before you pulled it, lets pull the turbo and check out the apex seals and see how much spring they have to them
