Damn, I'm going to be in Canmore on the weekend of MITM, but maybe I can convince my wife that we should cruise into the mountains.

When is the dyno day going to happen, Chris?

I know, but it's supposed to be a weekend get-away for us. I don't think she'd be very interested in hanging with a bunch of rotor heads.

"Wife" ?? Hmmm... Congrats!

Dyno day.. I'm off to vegas tomorrow, and will be returning by the 15th.. I will then start looking into some dates for sure.... I was hopeing to shoot for the end of the month.. how does that work for most people? Depending on how many people are interested, I'm looking at 2 shops.. Concept-1 and their dynojet, if we are going to have a large gathering.. no tuning, just a few runs to get you a baseline # ... Or Dynomotive and their Mustang dyno.. This option is if we get a smaller # of owners who want to dyno.. might be a bit more money, but will giv eyou the opportunity to do a little bit of tuning at the same time...

Yup. Wife. I got married in the Dominican Republic in April. Big change.

Here's another big change... We're going to tear down and rebuild the house, so I am contemplating selling Grace. I hope it doesn't come to that, but it makes sense financially. (Of course, if I sell her, my new 14-year-old step-daughter will skin me alive, so a house might not even be necessary)

If I don't sell her, I'll be looking for a place to store her while the garage is being rebuilt. If anyone knows of a good secure place that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, please let me know.

Congratulations Shaun!
You could always be like that guy with the CYM FD stored in his living room... hehe

Maybe talk to Erik...he's got a spot out in the country now and he might have some room. Plus he's got an FD now, too.

I thought Erik might have bought an FD. Someone posted that "Eric" had bought one, but because of the name I wasn't sure if it was him or not.

Yup, that was me that bought the FD. It's a 93 R1 model that I bought in the states and drove home. I has a few issues (dent by gas cap, front fender lips pulled out by rubbing tires, etc.) but I am reasonably pleased with the purchase. I just have to get the daytime running lights working and I can get it inspected. I already changed the bumper and got the rest of the stuff I need. As for the shop space I sent you a PM regarding that. Grace can sit right next to "Vader" if she likes.....maybe we can convince her to join the "dark side".

Erik,

I have to confess that I had your shop space in mind when I was thinking about places I could store my vehicle. I'm not the type of guy to ask though. I'll definitely take you up on your offer.

Vader looks pretty sharp. How many clicks on the odometer? Any mods yet? What's the device under the stereo?

Thanks,
Shaun

Hope nobody minds if I tag along in my 85 GSL. (my first mazda)
It's only been 5 or 6 weeks since I got it and I love it so far.... runs great.

Just took it out to race city last night and ran a 19.688s @ 74.45mph on a stock 12a.

I'd definately like to learn some tips and tricks from you all.

Reading a horror storry of $17K+ spent and seemingly money ill spent at rx-7 spec, I have to ask, how many have had work done there and what are the good reviews? I ask because once I get a winter beater I wanted to take it there for a new engine and 5spd swap.

The car has about 100K on the odometer and I was told there is only 30K on the engine but the compression numbers seem a little low for that. It runs fine but I can see myself rebuilding the engine with a large streetport or partial bridge at some time. For mods there are the usual items like the exhaust, aluminum AST, large wheels, etc. The device under the stereo is the controller for the DEFI gauges. I just bought a DEFI boost gauge as the previous owner only installed an aftermarket water temp gauge which at the moment keeps showing temps up around 220 degrees. I also just bought a PWR radiator to see if that will help drop the temps. Along with the radiator I got a Greddy 3 Row front mount and BOV. Along with the boost gauge I got a Power FC and Datalogit. I also am getting rid of the white wheels as I don't believe they are the right offset for the car. I bought some 99 spec wheels to get me by for now. I also bought a set of Tein HA coilovers but they won't be in for a while. Yup, the mods they are a comin.....

Feel free to give me a shout anytime and get directions to the new place.

Do a search if you'd like to find out what I and others think of the work they do there. I can break it down real quick for ya though. I don't think they do good work, and I don't think they build good motors, I'm not the only one, but that's my opinion, like I said do a search.

Back on topic though. Tag along man, more people the better.

ShaunO congrats man, that's awsome. Try your best to hang on to Grace, store it at Erik's, I figure maybe if we can get a whole group of running cars into Eriks garage his other cars will watch and learn what it takes to run on a regular basis Just kiddin Erik I'm actually pleased with you, FD running, 944 up and going! Work on that FC man

Should probably machined the flywheel while your in there. Takes like an hour or so and costs like $40 or something. I have the socket to get the flywheel nut off if I can find it.

If your clutch is slipping, Im willing to bet your flywheel is glazed like ice. Throw that new clutch on there and cut its life in half. If its grooved, kiss it goodbye. My clutch lasted only 3 months on my shitty flywheel on my 12A.

I have 2 Impact Guns, A good compressor and that socket (somewhere). Alls we would need is a Mazda Flywheel Puller. But I guess we wont know till we get it off.

If I can get the 29th off, I'll come up from Saskatoon in the T2, and maybe recruit a couple guys from around here.

I'll try to stop by on my way to Vancouver Island, if the stars align. I will be giddy like a little girl because I've never had the FD at sea level. Can't wait!

This cruise might be a bad idea this Sunday...
They are currently rock chipping the road from around Chief Chiniki past dead mans flats, and they are only half done, and look to be presently rain delayed..
Its 80 km/hr with "no passing" signs, that didnt stop a few retards in semi trucks from passing a whole line of traffic at 120 km/h + in the loose chipped lane and blasting everyone with marble sized rocks.. My new work van now looks like some took shots at with a shotgun, and the windshield is now deflowered heavily...********...
It would be a mistake to take a car you have any pride through there for awhile......
I suggest this goes up the 1a to canmore...

Well that doesnt sound good. I ran into that coming home from Edmonton one time. Bad ******* news, no matter how carefull you are your going to get enough retards spraying you with rocks that it aint worth it. I'm not sure I'd make it out alive on 1a either, that roads pretty beat up to, with my suspension I'm liable to rattle out every one of my fillings, and 90% of the bolts on my car.

Sounds like I'll show up at COP meet some people and call it a day. Bad luck I suppose.
