Meet Date: Sunday April 24th, 2005
Meet Time: 2PM
Meet Location: Dave & Busters Parking Lot at Hwy400/Hwy7 (From Hwy 400 north, exit Hwy 7 East, Dave and Busters is less than 1/2km on the south side)
For more info: PM 'Lawyer's Spirit'
-------------------------------------------
-> For the KW people <-
We will be LEAVING Sportsworld at 12:20pm sharp. If you can't make this, our next stops will be:
- Tim Hortons in Milton. It's just on the south side of the 401 (isn't it, smnc?) We'll be there about 5-10 mins; long enough to say hello and get some steamy beverages.
- Ontario Mazda. 401 and Dixie. Southeast side. We will be joining a convoy of RX-8s here. They are expecting us for 1:00-1:15pm.
- Dave & Busters
If you have an FRS radio, bring it. We'll be on channel 7. If you're going to be late and want to let someone know you're still coming, or you get separated or lost or have a breakdown, call (519) 721-AMUR (2687.) Write it down now and stick it in your wallet.
That's it. See ya in 21, kids!

I'll be there rain or shine, but I will be in my racing escort instead of the FD, as its sitting in the shop at Dave's...
Oh and Rich, the Hoola girl broke...My dash was vibrating so much, her torso fell off
Maybe Dave can fix that too?

Look for the big Tims/Wendy's sign.
I'll be the guy behind the counter in the black shirt with a nametag that says "Spencer".
Now for the bad news.
Half my staff has now called in sick for the day, so the odds of my leaving on time (2pm) have gone down signifigantly.
Hopefully I won't be too late for the meet...
BTW, do you guys want to take the big thermos of coffee (80 cups)? I was gonna bring it myself, but since I'll be late...
Also, due to the lack of any decent weather this week, I haven't been able to get my interior put back together (I have no passenger seatbelt, and the wife want s to come with), so looks like this trip will have to be made in the beater...
*sigh*...

Hope you see this in time.
I don't think that would be a good idea. After we leave Tim's with it, someone would have to fit it in their car, and then when we get to D&B's we have to find a way to set it up for everyone to get at it. Nobody will have a table and nobody will want it on their hood. When we finally get inside D&B's, assuming that they let us bring it in, we'll again have to find a place to set it.
Life will be simpler if we just have a round at your store for the people coming from the west and be done with it.
You won't be the only ones - it's snowing here (lightly - no accumulation on the roads) and this can't be the only place...

Jump right in with both feet! This isn't an exclusive meet - if you own a 7, you're expected to come.

No problem Amur.
I had to clear 2 inches of the 7 to drive to work today.
Remeber, I dive my car in the winter so an inch or two of snow is no deterrent... However, I started working on my interior last week when it was nice, then it started raining before I got a chance to finnish...
If I wasn't bringing Sarita, I'd drive the 7, but she gets a little freaked out when I drive 120+ and she has no seatbelt...

That was just phenomenal. I am in awe of how things came together today.
I don't know if anyone got a firm head count (I didn't) but the Ottawa Meet may no longer be the Big meet.
First off, a big huge round of e-applause for Lawyer's Spirit for spearheading the cause and sticking it out despite the difficulties he encountered (some of which most are unaware of.) Today's meet and the meeting that followed is something that has been long overdue in our community, and my hat is off to him for being a motivator and a rallying point for all of us.
My thanks and admiration also go out to all who came out, despite unfavourable weather, and for some, unfavourable schedules. Just your attendance stands as a vote of confidence and assurance that this Club is something worth creating and fostering. Creating for all of us to benefit from.
Recap for those who missed it
After enduring the cold parking lot (some were out there for over an hour) we went into Sam & Pete's to get setttled and start our meet(ing.) Despite an unco-operative PA system, Lawyer's Spirit was able to address everyone, thank them for coming and then call for a show of hands from those interested in taking active roles in the club. It was very pleasing to see over a dozen hands go up.
We moved into a lounge area around the corner. At times, it was hard to hear one another over the main group (and you thought our cars were loud ) but we were able to discuss quite a bit and share ideas about how to create an RX Club. Those discussions will be continued.
I'm not going to go into detail right now - not to be secretive, but rather b/c I've got too much to do tonight b4 I crash. I will say this:
- there will be a web page for the club. Initially, it will be used to post news, announcements and contact information. This will be expanded upon once we get our feet under ourselves.
- the Club will work to ensure that there will be at least one big meet each month between now and September.
Those of us who met separately still have to get all of our newly collected information sorted out and establish what our respective roles are. We'll be doing this through email and the like for expediency, and will have a formal announcement shortly if all goes well (and I'm certain that it will.) Our volunteers are enthusiastic and smart people. It won't take long for them get their acts together and co-ordinate their planning.
Thank you all for coming out! Hopefully, Davide's photographs (our new friend with the Howitzer-sized camera) posted soon.
