Thumbs down The Rollover

Well, I finally a make it to a meet, only to roll my car.

This a good example of what NOT to do kids.
Careful in those corners, easy on the brakes, and SET UP YOU SUSPENSION PROPERLY, or you'll end up like me.

For those who haven'y had the full story:
I went into a corner, hit the brakes too hard and ended up rolling into a ditch. Both Sarah (Sarita) and I walked away from it, but my car's chasis is DONE...

First off:
Big thanks to Will for a great time, and all your help! I hope we didn't impose too much!
Big thanks to everyone who pulled us out, patched us up and put her back on her wheels...
Big thanks to Scott and Sophia for the tow call and the the ride back.
And of course Rich, I don't know what to say. Thanks fo EVERYTHING

We towed the car home this morning.
The good:
Engine seems to be intact, but I gotta pry/cut the hood open to be sure
CP steering is intact
TII Big Brakes are a-ok
Rims and tires are fine
No injuries more severe than bruises and cuts
The backseat is unharmed
MY MUDFLAPS ARE MINT

The bad:
Interior is bad. My knee crushed several lower dash pieces, the center console came off completely, drivers side seat is broken
Plexi moonroof broke

The Ugly:
Body is DONE - Hood, roof, fenders, valance, bumpers, grill, rear right quarter panel, both headlight buckets
Chasis is done - A pillars, rear subframe

Overall, I had a GREAT time. I will be back!
Awsome to finnaly meet everyone...
Sam, Jamie, too bad you couldn't make it...
The BBQ was fun!
Loved the cruise... at least as far as I got!

I'll be back next year with a working LSD, better suspension, and some more driving experience.

p.s.
Anyone with pics of the wreck, please do cover the plate, but other than that, post away
And if anyone has a spare GSL-SE chasis lying around...

Great seeing everyone again!!

As usual, Will and the Ottawa gang put on a good show... Too bad the weather didn't want to co-operate for the Show and Shine. Thankfully things were better for the main event.

Smnc & Sarita, as you might have heard, cars can be replaced.....
Great to see you guys were alright. You've gained valuable experience for next year...

As for the rest of you, always a good time!!

Who, we were wondering why you didn't show... At least now we know... Hopefully you'll be able to make it out for some events later in the season...

Pics are being uploaded and hopefully a few vid clips make it up... (Amur, you'll get the footage off those DVD's.. )

We'll see everyone again for either the Bruce County meet or the T.O. meet coming up soon...

Lates,

sorry to hear about your car, smnc!

man, I'd be pretty damn upset about that if I was you, glad you're handling it OK

Look in the FS/WTB section, search for my GSL-SE that was for sale, don't know if it still is or not but that is a great car and was pretty cheap!

Another fun ottawa trip. Milana and I had a blast even though we almost had carbon monoxide poisoning ont he way home. At the start of the cruise I got an exhaust leak. Before I start up I just wanted to thank Will & Stacy for their hospitality you guys are the best!!!

So it all started with me spending 12 hours cleaning the car to get it dirty before we even reached the actual meet. Our group had only one speeding ticket and it was all the bee's fault!

We made it to the meet all wet, managed to park under the covered walkway only to get kicked out by security. The BBQ was awesome good burgers Leigh was the chef for this year! We ended up going for a quick cruise at the end of the night where I let frank hear my vented wastegates. Damn my car is loud my ears are still ringing.

The cruise was a blast, the first event was going around a corner to see a Red FC starring back at me after a spin out! Then someone got on the FRS and said RED FD you are on fire. Milana then smelt some smoke and said I think the car is on fire. I hit the brakes hard cranked the steering and spun to a stop into a campground parking lot. We jumped out of the car to check for fire. Luckly there was none and everything was ok. We did scare the crap out of some campers watching wondering what the hell is wrong with us. And someone caught a bit of that on tape. Thanks Rich, Arron and everyone else who stoped to make sure everything was ok

We took it easy this year since I got the new motor, and I need to make changes to the suspension it feels a little soft. We were directly behind smnc and sarita when the accident occured. I must say I never want to see that again, when we got them out of the car I felt so much better to see they were ok. I'm sorry about the car but as Neo said car's can be replace but you both can't.

After a long day of driving we ended up staying an extra night. The drive home was nice and quiet except for my car. And yes amurs car is stinky!! The exhaust fumes were getting to us and Milana was getting dissy when we finaly got home we were both really red and nauseous from breathing CO for 4 hours. But we do feel much better now.

So in the end great meet & cruise. Thanks for driving back with us scotty, leigh, and rich. Next year we want to hang out with all the camera's maybe closer to the front of the pack.

I wasn't impressed. Expected one in the airbox, but not the cowl. The price for living in the country.

Amur, too bad about the various "injuries" to your car. Here's what you missed. This is just before I left home for the meet.

SMNC - Very glad to hear you are both allright. That's not the kind of thing you want to see happen. Fun is fun, but that's not.

Talking

Well posting a little late, Sat night the forum just didn't wanna let me on. Then spent the whole of yesterday tearing down my exhaust manifold and rebuilding it from scratch only to find out the WG still doesn't fit

Spencer and Sarah. Was really relieved to see you two were ok and out of the car when we got there. First thing I heard of you guys was from a pick up driver telling me two ppl from our group were upside down in a ditch. Nice to see you escaped with only minor cuts and bruises. Hope your arm gets better soon Sarah. Hope to see you guys in a new 7 next year if not sooner!

So First off. Big thanks to Will for organizing and hosting this event.
Thanks to twinturbofc (aka TTFC brotha! aka Jay ), John and Ian for the rides and (sorry i didn't catch your name) for the quick rip in the Red RX-8 after subway (mmmm Steak and cheese). Scott me and you will just have to trade cars next meet so i can know what's it's like to drive an RX-8 ..... J/K !!

Mark those atmospheric WG's were just nutz LOL Thanks for the flyby . Always wondered what it would sound like and was thinking of doing it myself.. that is until i heard yours. lol Crazy! Also seeing that quick shot of you ducking off the road was awsome .

Jason (from ottawa) Your car stinks . But your driving rules when Jay and I finally got to the front it was tuff keeping up to you and Derek through the twisities! Also Congrats on your new top speed record

Chris, last red FD I would have expected to show was yours! I kept looking out for a protoge wondering if you were gonna show up! Way to prove everyone wrong

Finally thanks to Jay for the white knuckle driving. Good to see you got the TTFC running right and thanks for not killing me off a few of those turns. Look forward to cruising with you again. Only next time i hope to be in my own TTFC.

Now back to finishing the 7!

It was much more likely that Jay would kill you by hand if you didn't keep your yap shut while he was concentrating on driving, than killing you via a crash. So, since you made it out of his car okay, I guess you behaved

at least she didn't bring the Vdub!!

also, Chris has a Mazda 3, not a protege. they've had a few in the family though.

Hey Guys,

Well I had a *great* time on (what John called) my car's "Inagural Cruise" I'm amazed what my little underpowered FB can do when keeping up to those turbo FCs and FDs at the front of the pack I guess my suspension setup (and l33t driving skill) helped alot.

Spencer and Sarah: I'm so glad you guys are okay. Spencer, thanks for letting me drive your car around the night before. You guys are both amazingly awesome individuals. Thanks for the help on the hatch drains, and the awesome friendship and encouragement. I hope we get to see you guys next year. I don't know if it would help any, but if your floor panels are in good condition I might be able to get Eric's GSL shell. You'd have to fix some rust work and swap over the engine, but it might be a cheap way to a body that isn't too bad. Not sure how I'd get it to you though.

Thanks to:
rxcetera (Will): For hosting the festivities, and noticing over the radio that I was up front ("Hey, is that Jon back there?")
SMNC (Spencer) and Sarita (Sarah): For the ride in the car, the help with the hatch drains, the encouragement and specifically Sarah for setting a good example for rotary girlfriends/better halves everywhere.
silverrotor (Tony): For the FD alt that almost everyone noticed under my hood
the_dude (Eric): For all the help getting my car ready for the meet
Amur (Rich): For the soldering, the willingness to help, and the smile that just never went away
Leigh Adams (Leigh): For doing a damn good job at the BBQ
eViLrotor (John): For giving me inspiration to bling-out my engine bay

and everyone who helped me get my car to the point where I could drive it to the meet this year (special mentions to Rx7Carl and Sterling of the 1st Gen section, Will's friend Andy whose online name I've forgotten, Sayyad and Michel, and many others I'm sure I've forgotten)

It was a LOT of fun, and you will definitely see me there next year.

Pictures to come once they're developed onto CD.

Jon

Thanks for the support everyone!

Turns our Sarah's arm is only bruised, so all is well.

And we'll be back as soon as we get a new body for my car's engine...

Despite not driving this year, I still had fun.

Thanks to Will and Stacey for having us over at their place, and for organizing the meet (i'm sure Jason helped too).

Thanks to Evilrotor for letting me ride in his not so stinky machine. And thanks to Ian, Jay for letting me ride in their cars as well.

Good to hear everyone is ok, and I hope to see everyone again soon.
