It's my birthday !!!! Turn 33 today . Ordering parts !!! Mostly Atkins seals . Debating on whether I want to buy new 3 window main bearings or reuse . I've read the debates on installing new bears . We have all the tools here at the shop to do it right but , they say you get better clearance for oiling . Opinions?

Well I've been cranking away trying to get this done . Just been busy with family things and work . So with that said I just finsh putting the keg together the other night and setting endplay here at the shop yesterday . I can tell you the hardest part was trying to get the center iron on by myself. started putting it together at 8pm and didn't finsh til 4am that following morning ,then get up after 2hrs of sleep and go to work pulling transmissions all day til 6 . Still tired lol but happy it's done . Lost the 4 oil pump bolts somehow 😡 so need to find some and I can install the front cover for good . I blocked the omp galley passage in the front since I'm pre mixing . Should I just install the front cover with rtv and the oring or use a rx8 gasket if it can be used on a s4 iron . I like the fact that it has the water pump gasket attached . I took some pics over the last few weeks so hopefully it will let me post them LATER FROM the iPhone APP

Well app won't let me post but was able to upload the pics to my profile album .
Well today at work has been productive since its slow right now . Was able to tap my compressor housing for an npt nipple so I can remove the one from my iNtercooler pipe that goes to the wastegate . Welded up a crack in my turbo manifold I guess from the heavy *** weight of the hx-52 lol
Also opened up my s4 t2 trans to see what kinda shape it was in . I had just filled it up and through it in last year and never checked it out . Besides needing the normal shifter bushings it was all clean and good inside so sealed it back up .
Going to install oil pump tonight along with the front cover and oil pan . Hoping to stab the engine & trans on Saturday morning .

Well didn't get the motor stabbed for the simple fact that I was waiting on a rx8 front cover gasket . well just got delivered to the shop this morning . Nice piece , I can see why everyone is now using this gasket . Helps you don't have to order a water pump to iron gasket since it's built in . I'll be taking the hoist home tonight . Install the front cover and right stuff the oil pan . Also rerouting my wastegate dump to dump to atmosphere again . I had it routed back into the dp . But fell the piping size had to many bends in it . Found some nice stainless 1.25 piping from a stock bmw exhaust manifold I chopped up . It's a hks 38mm that's been slightly ported from a previous build . Only a 5 psi spring for break in . Fingers crossed it should hopefully be running buy this weekend .
On a side project I polished my front lower control arms . Came out nice . Wish I could post pics in the thread but for some reason the rx7club Apple app won't let me 😤 . So I'll post up in my forum album/garage .

That's funny, first thing when I saw the fan I thought, "Dang that looks like the fan on my moms jeep" haha.

I too need to figure out how to fix my exhaust leak on my turbo/dp vband. Did your makeshift gasket work pretty good?

Bummer that you spun bearings. Any idea why?

yup the the automatic transmission clutch disc does work pretty damn good . i installed it with a smear of copper gasket sealer on both sides and installed between dp and turbo . as for bears i believe it was do to a few things that i've noticed or think may have been the cause/s . im plan to write out what i found and my 1st time experience doing a rotary rebuild .

as far as update goes . bout to prime the oil system right now!!!!!. primed fuel system to check for leaks last night with my power probe and good to go . i can say trying to get the right oring setup on my injectors has been a nightmare since its a custom setup with the 1600's and my 800's . its 75-90 syn for the trans right ? i forgot and think i added only 80-90 with a additive last time . just want the right **** this time .

Yup 75-90 synthetic for the transmission. Should take just over 2 quarts. I used mobil 1 cause it's $10 cheaper/ quart comparted to royal purple

And I hope you flushed your whole oil system before re installation. Including the oil filter. Could be copper flakes left over.

alright guys its been a long weekend . ive got it to start twice as of now . i think timing is ******* with me possibly but then again maybe not . i know what you guys are going to say right of the bat . im using a serp belt pulley setup that i believe is from a cosmo engine . i dont have a s4 pulley or hub combo handy to remark my timing marks .i dont know if the hub and pulley are a legit set either . so what i did before finally assembly i installed the hub and marked the key way on both side of the hub to make sure i knew were the key way was . now my pulley will only bolt up one way . with the key way at 9 o'clock and a straight edge on the bolts at 90 and 270 degrees my yellow (1st mark when rotating clockwise is possibly is off my just a couple mm's if that . stabbed cas per hitmans way and stock while also adjusting tooth offset to either 11 (hitman) or mazda (3) . now ive set trigger angle from 60-80 ,75 being the 2 times it started and ran for a few minutes while i hold the throttle steady above 1500 rpm . when cranking rpms are bouncing around 2-300 rpm . ive just pulled the plugs out and trailing was pretty wet and leading has some residue .adjusted fuel pressure down bout 10 psi to low 30ish for now . spun it to de flood and a lil fuel clouded out .ready for tomorrow and try again . all my diag stuff is at work but bring it home tomorrow . going to smoke test the intake track and also bring home a timing light and sparkplug tester . i guess i need to also look at the fuel map and possible take some fuel out percentage wise . hope someone may have some insight . thanks guys

Well just a quick update guys . It runs . Got timing locked in . Running rich as **** though so I'll have to start tweaking some of the maps . . I'm got a video just need to figure out how to upload to YouTube . Drove it around for a lil bit , and found that I need to work on idle or whatever when coming up to a light on deceal it drops pretty good and at times wants to stall if I don't tap the throttle once or twice . Sounds cool but not right at all . Also bought the stuff to make a trim **** setup for fuel to help with tuning the maps . Cost like $7 to make lol RadioShack is awesome !

alright well been driving the car now for almost a week ,to and from work . just been tweaking the maps the best i can . running really rich at idle and out of boost and lean in boost with a really bad hesitation going into to it. only have a 5 psi spring controlling boost for right now and for 90% of the driving im granny shifting right now at 4k for break in which is right before boost kicks in for me . as far as everything else its running and driving pretty damn good in austin traffic .get many looks and thumbs up for sure . i think it has to do with the texas antique plates i have . its not just some loud *** import lol its a classic

got a few pics . plan to take more video once i get the gopro figured out . i got a mount mounted in the car already just need to charge it and learn how to use it . also got the trim **** built . it works damn good for $7 thats for sure . its help with me getting the idle figured out and so on .

engine bay finally done

hood back on and ready to go to work

my co worker and me built a nice screamer pipe that dumps right behind the passenger front tire. stage 2 of the design will have it coming out the fender . got the idea from another member here on the forum .

trim **** mount next to ecu . found the bracket laying around the shop and modded it .

and last, in the garage for the night parked next to the other beast in the family . cam'd 08' trailblazer ss .

wel got the maps tweaked a lil more and now going into boost a lil bit . the port diffently did something !!!!!!!its a whole new beast now it really does put you in the seat on 3 gear pulls !!!!!

i do have a project that i i want to do badly just so i can get more belt wrap around the wp (not running hot thankfully ) ,and thats to do a side mount Taurus alt set up .also want to re do from the dp back new exhaust piping . its pretty damn close to my fuel tank ,scary. also a alignment is in order, but i want to fix the bump steer im getting . my tie-rods are at a pretty good angle right now . so i dont know if i should find a bump steer kit or look for modded knuckles just for the sake of my future track plans (austin has the only f1 track in the usa , thats time attack ) i know the guys that run boostlogic (skyline gtr tuners here in austin ,look them up ) and said they'd hook it up with some dyno time soon so thats awesome . my coworker builds all there supra transmissions that get shipped around the world which is pretty kool i think . funny thing was when i asked the guy bout rotary tuning his word were " their bad *** motors but they like to eat seals lol" . gotta make a believer out of him now

i like your car!

i'd do the alignment before you actually went out and bought any fancy parts, the alignment makes a HUGE difference. after its setup, then look at bumpsteer, Mazda did a good job, so unless you did some big change, like the knuckles, its probably really close.

i find the rotary tunes like any other engine, except that most think that more timing is better, when they were running too much to start with so they end up at the ragged edge thinking its "safe" and then it randomly blows up later

Thanks man . I really take pride in the fact that everything from body to motor and drivetrain I've done myself in my garage with some help here and there from my coworkers . They are all big Chevy carb fans , but have showed them how a lil 1.3 can get down next to there small block 350's and big blocks 454's . They call it the ol' airplane motor with a 18 wheeler turbo .

How much power do you think your making on that setup? I'm still trying to figure out if I want to rebuild my s5 na block and turbo it or swap a t2 motor.

not sure really yet . im hoping to hit the 400hp mark or close to it . but really im just after a good motor i can bet on at any random night out . its always been my highway brawler.rough around the edges not a trailer queen and just bet it til it screams lol

well started another lil project . if always wanted the stock cargo cover, but tracking down all good pieces is next to impossible . so i started buiding my own .i have some really thin blonde plywood that i going to use . i made the template already and should finish it the next day or two. ive finally decided to install a speaker setup . im going to be using a boat/motorcycle amp that puts out 200w's and connect it to two 6x9's i have .the amp has a built in radio and can connect to my iphone 6 with out being all crackly . my plan is to mount the speakers in the cargo cover and mount the amp under it . it will be easy to remove on track days .

well lil update . been cranking away. been driving it on a daily damn near so i can get the tune dailed in better . found a few 6port turbo timing maps Arghx had made with the help of Aaroncake and his knowledge . used both maps he made for conservative based timing . it seems to run smoother then the other timing map i have but seems the boost possibly hits a few more hundered rpm later then before, maybe a good thing ? heres his charts . i had to adjust for the simple fact the rpm ranges are a lil different . let me know what you guys think . also finally got it off the damn zero throttle map and on to the base fuel map for good . happy bout that . idles fat though, 10's to 11's once warm in the 8's on started up .

so besides that i had to rewire the damn fan with bigger gauge wire and a new relay pigtail cause it was getting a bad connection . the fan pulls 34amps when it kicks on and then drops down to 16 amps . so right now i have a 30 amp circuit breaker installed just in case and plan on running installing a 50amp breaker soon . damn jeep liberty fan pushes some air though lol from a 2003 if anyone cares just have to trim the shroud . also finished my rear cargo cover with 2 3way 6x9's . going to order the motorcycle amp this week . it puts out 200w's which should be enough for me to drone out the exhaust lol. i'll be using my iphone 6 for the radio since its mounted on the dash for a speedo when ever driving . also i had a taxi up at work that i was instaling a transmission in . looked at the center caps and thought " its the same bolt pattern ,let me see" i can order the caps with out the ford i believe . their off a crown vic . what do you guys think ? i can always paint the outer part red to match and leave the center chrome . dont worry i didnt steal them from the taxi . i put them back

Just buy a regular amp and add a gain **** between your input (3.5mm jack) and RCA in to the amp. I did just that and installed the **** in one of the OE knockouts by the mirror controls.
The foglight switch turns the signal wire to the amp on/off. I'm using a Craigslist 4 channel Alpine amp.
I think I have $50 invested in everything and it sounds great and I don't need a head unit.
To make it even better, I bought a bluetooth reciever and plugged it into the 3.5mm jack. I can connect to my phone and listen to whatever I want wirelessly.
