Installed the steering wheel today. Very happy with the look and feel. My only complaint is with just the Momo hub it sits in the stock location. Which may be fine for most but I have long legs and sometimes my knees hit the steering wheel when I use the clutch. Normally I’m against quick release steering wheels unless you need them for a cage but I might need one to get the extra length I need.

You can buy bolt-on spacers for much cheaper than the price of a quick release and you wont have any of the extra play that can sometimes come with. I have a 2.5" spacer with a flat face Momo similar to yours and it fixed my knee issue and improved gauge visibility (330mm problems). Only annoyance is that you have to reach for the turn signals and cruise switches.

Thanks for the idea! I’ll look into those.

Parts are starting to roll in. I think the only things I’m still waiting on to show up are the over fenders and the gauge cluster surround. Then the only thing I’ll need to finish the brakes is the electric e-brake actuator and dual caliper brake lines. I was a little worried about mounting the gktech hydro as they are meant for an S13 but I’ve already figured it out. Should work great and be almost unnoticeable.

Heres the original 195 vs the new 295.

Installed the hydro tonight. I still need to mount the calipers and install the brake line but I’d say it works pretty well.

Spent a little time tonight working on the hydro ebrake. I wanted to be able to pull it without it trying to lock. I ordered a “drift button” but was unimpressed with the quality and actual operation. So I welded the handbrake pawl in place. Now the handbrake looks stock but there’s nothing to engage the teeth. I also got my OMP 60mm steering wheel extension and mounted it. It took a little creativity to get the horn button back in but I figured something out. I kind of like the exposed look but I’ll probably end up covering it with something. Now there’s lots of room for my legs and my arms rest comfortably.

My plans for for the rest of the night/weekend are to reinstall the exhaust and driveline, finish fitting the center console, put the rear wheels on for ***** and giggles, and start on mounting the dual caliper setup. It’ll be a busy weekend.

Test fit the wheels. I can’t wait for the rear overs to get here haha. It needs them. But they look soooo good and clear everything perfectly. Even the factory muffler heat shielding. I wish now that I had gone with a 255 for the front instead of the 235. The 235 is perfectly flush on the 17x9 where the 295 is slightly stuffed on the 18x10.5. Going with the 255 would give them both the same amount of stuff. It’s not that big of a deal but it’s something I’d like to change when I decide to get new front tires.

I also did a little tweaking to the hydro design to further optimize the cable angle. Next is mounting the center console. I’ll start on the rear brakes tomorrow.

Spent New Years working on the dual caliper setup. Honestly, it’s probably not worth the amount of work that it has been haha. It’ll be interesting to see how well it all works. Still waiting on a few things to show up like brake lines, ebrake cables and brake pads for the Audi calipers. Now to finish the other side and get everything painted.

Good progress. Hopefully, you don't stuff it into a wall after all the work you've done lol.

Calipers are mounted up and ready to go. Still need the ebrake actuator. The rear over fenders and brake lines for the hydro should be here next week. Basically just waiting for a break in the rain so I can bead in the brakes and adjust the bias.

Took he car for a drive the other day. Brakes work great. The roads where wet and the r888r is not known for its wet traction grip. I can lock up all four with ease haha. Drove it to a buddy’s house but when I went to leave it wouldn’t start. The motor is worn out and floods easily. Tried to unfold it but had no luck so I called a tow truck. Thinking back on it now, when I pulled the fuse to crank it over it didn’t kill the fuel pump. That’s because I still had the jumper in the fuel pump relay from when I deleted the HVAC. I have since properly installed a fuel pump switch and relay and the car is back up and running.

Also when the tow truck driver got in my car he broke the armrest IN HALF!?! I didn’t think it was that brittle haha. It’s all good though. It was an accident. This just gave me an excuse to install the black S5 armrest I had laying around. Looks much better now and the GKTech hydro still fits under the smaller S5 armrest.

Incase you where wondering how much clearance the 18x10.5 +22 with the 295/30 have... not much. But they do fit and don’t rub. Plus it’s easy to push them out farther with a small spacer if needed.

My next project for the rest of the night is prepping for over fenders. The Shine 30mm rear overs and PBM hydro brake lines will be here tomorrow and I should have everything I need for the parking brake by next weekend if the weather isn’t terrible.

Ran the lines for the hydro handbrake and test fitted the over fenders. I’m very happy with the quality. They should fit nicely. Tomorrow I can continue prepping to mount the fenders and bleed the hydro.

Got the hydro bled and started installing the electric e-brake. Still need the cables to finish everything up. Did a little more trimming to clean up the fenders. The color match paint should be here tomorrow.

Painted the over fenders and mounted them on the car. Needless to say the color match paint is a little off haha. I actually want to get the whole car resprayed that color. It basically the same color as the gel coat the fenders had put of the box haha. Oh well. Tomorrow I’ll lower the rear another inch to get rid of some of the rake.

Mounted the cigarette lighter in the center console and hooked up the lighting. It’ll look better with the carbon fiber gauge cluster surround and new buttons.

I also remounted and cleaned up the switches. Top to bottom is fuel pump, radiator fan, line lock, and the round one is the parking brake.

I’m torn between building a chromoly cage and keeping the full interior...

I also lowered the back a little so there wasn’t so much rake.

Went to a meet tonight and drove it home in the rain. They definitely aren’t wet tires but they did ok. The amount of brake dust is pretty ridiculous though haha. Oh well. At least it stops nice. Even in the rain. I also found out my wipers only work in low speed lol. So there’s something else I have to diagnose.

Thanks. I haven’t decided yet. Either a roll bar with door bars or a full cage that ties into the front strut towers. I’ll decide once I get new seats and see how much room I have to work with. The problem for me is I want to keep as much of the interior as possible. I’ve had other cars that I’ve gutted and I want something different. I have a full cage in my off-road Subaru so I’m used to climbing in and out haha. The biggest thing for me about full cage vs roll bar is I’d like to keep the headliner and the a-pillar bars have to be really tight to the body. I’ve only seen a few caged FCs that where able to do that. I’d build it to NHRA specs 1 5/8 0.083 chromoly.

You could use Brazilian wax your windows it'll help a ton, it was a quick solution when my wipers went bad it work so well I deleted the wipers completely and I live in Miami where it rains a lot. Much better than rain x and last alot of time I usually rewax every 6;months

Finished installing the cables for the electric parking brake last night. It works great. Now to rip the rear subframe out and rebush with all new Ronin and PSM parts. I’ve been busy this past week parting out my lifted Subaru. But now I have some money for things like the steering wheel controls and the rear ended bushings.

Installed all the bushings for the rear suspension. I didn’t order the front diff bushing because I thought it would be fine but I was wrong. Needed a cheap quick fix so I welded it solid. Should work for now. I used the energy suspension front trailing arm bushings and am very disappointed in the quality. They have an unacceptable amount of play. I do not recommend them.
