S4 megasquirt problems

So today I finally got my car to do something for ounce. I set the timing and installed iacv and got it to back fire. But the weird part was is that it sounded like it might have came from the intake . Does anyone know what that means? Also sometimes it sounds like it’s about to start then doesn’t . Kinda stuck and the only thing I’m missing is my coolant temp sensor that goes to the water neck . I followed the Aaron cakes page and follwed every step and triple checked . My guess it’s probably the timing

Hey dude just FYI this section is for those logging their "build". There is a megasquirt section [HERE] that can better help you.

I think youre on the right path that the timing is set incorrectly. It could be a few things...it could be mechanical timing on the CAS, you could have your settings in the megasquirt wrong (i think i had mine going the wrong way for the signal, going high or low) or you could have your base timing in the MS set wrong as well. I would tackle those in that order. double and triple check your settings. make sure your fuel is set right as you may not be getting enough...make sure you dont have your fuel lines reversed...the REQ fuel plays a big part too.

It would be nice to have a CLT sensor in place as it could be getting random readings with nothing there, if you can crank it and get it to spark you're in the right path. Get a timing light and make sure to set your ignition offset (base timing) correctly or you'll have some serious problems trying to get it to start at all.
