Worked 8 hours yesterday and about 3 today and got a lot finished.
The only body work that needs to be fixed now is the rust under the hatch seal.
I really hope somebody can give me advice on how to fix that.

The rest of the body work took forever, and at one point it honestly felt like we would never finish it. Very relieved to be finished.

Modded my tail lights today, but still got something else I want to do with them.

I will get some more pictures of the body when it's in primer.

Mazdatrix carries some that are cut to fit, but have no lettering. JasonS on this forum makes custom mats with logos.

You also may want to try and find an upholstery shop in your area. They may be able to make something for you.

JasonS's looks really nice.

Everyone talks about getting there seats redone at an upholstery shop, but I honestly have never heard of one around here. I will look around to see what I can find though.

I always notice a lot of that, too. "Just find a speedo shop" or an "alternator shop", etc. It just takes some digging. Google searches, yellow pages and even try local car forums or the regional section of some muscle and classic car forums. Those guys have a high percentage of owners that restore their cars and know where to go to get work done.

Sanded the ftp lenses down and they REALLY shined up. It's amazing how you can restore this old plastic.

Got my hatch finished up today! So we are done with the welding (thankfully).

In Physics today we were drawing a picture with a car so I decided to draw an fc =)!
There is also some of the work we do in there. (We added the evel knievel ramp and the great wall of China to make it interesting.)

Then the car caught on fire as we were welding! Really scared me so I freaked and sprayed it with a fire extinguisher which I really regret, because it made a mess! Fire was right on top of a bottle of brake fluid which I assume is flammable. Busted my knees in the process and they are still really sore. But I guess I'm in the market for some new seats or getting the driver side recovered. Worst thing about all this is the seats were redone fairly recent.

I think I got really lucky because that mess cleaned up nicely. Just had to cut a small burnt square out of the carpet and a bit off the seat.

If anyone has driver seat just like that one that is in decent shape pm me and I'll buy it.
Would also take a set of the black leather seats, a set of racing seats, or even fd seats.

If you can try to buy a welding blanket to prevent burning your interior. Also handy if welding around glass as it can be pitted real easy when welding and grinding. Worst case use cardboard. The welding spatter will burn into the cardboard and usually be put out then and burn it instead of what ever is below it. This is also handy if your working by a concrete floor as it will prevent it from bouncing around.

Thanks for the info! We were actually using cardboard and it rolled down the cardboard and into the spot that still had the interior. We probably would have been better off with nothing.

Needless to say, changed were made after our little fire.

The FTP lenses turned out great.

That sucks the interior started to burn from welding splatter. It sucks, we all learn things the hard way sometimes. I know I have, probably more times than I would have liked.

Thanks Jerry!

Yeah, it sucked! Even burned a hole in my 2 stroke oil and spilled everywhere!
Can't change it now though so I have learned to deal with it. Glad the welding is finished. It's kind of hard to weld on the inside when you can't strip all of the interior out.

I have had some very productive days and some downfalls throughout this very slow paint job.
All the body work is finished and "almost perfect". It is such a relief to finally get some primer on this thing.
The amount of work me and my body guy have put into this is amazing to think about. We were thinking maybe 3-4 weekends top and it turned into a little over 2 months and still counting.

Getting the primer on has motivated me to keep going and doing my hardest work on this car. I'm definately ready to see some paint shine.
Until that happens enjoy some pictures =)!!

I'll try to get to the cruise and grudge wars every month! Thanks a lot for setting me up with a great deal on a 13b turbo, I was just about to give up on rotarys.

After seeing all the Camaros and Firebirds that look and run the exact same times I wanna stay as far away from them as possible.

Got the jams painted up! Definately the hardest part of spraying.

Here is a pic of the doors just to see how good the car will look painted. Believe me the pictures do not do the paint justice. It's much more glossy in person. Looks great!

Here are some more pics of the jams and under hood area.
Rest of the engine bay will be painted when I swap the engine.
Everything definitely needs cleaned up a bit, but that will come later.

Finally got the paint on! Still need to get the trim and ftps on as well as buff it. Came out of the gun looking like this.

Now the question is. Should I put the spoiler back on or not?

You can see every picture here: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?s...1&l=3d350af765

Here is some of my favorites!

It's really not that bad. I should get a picture because the one I have is very misleading. It's just missing a square in the carpet and in the back of the seat. You can't tell if the seat is in driving position.

Thanks! I was beginning to think it didn't turn out as good as I thought. Not a lot of response.

I appreciate it! Me and my friend worked really hard on this thing. So I'm glad it turned out as good as it did.

Pretty soon I'll be working on an engine and drivetrain swap!
