Great work on the roll bar/cage. I don't think swapping an sr20 is blasphemy at all. If you like it, f*** everyone else.

I totally agree. One of the big reasons I did it was because of the extensive knowledge of the sr my group of friends has.

Sorry for the hiatus. I'm currently in Missouri visiting family and tomorrow I'm off to Chicago to have a fun filled week of street shenans. Right before I left last week I found a deal I couldn't pass up on. I guy at the shop how owns an fd decided to do a 2j swap and I picked up his motor for 1500. Within 5 mins I had found a shell in L.A. for 3 grand. So I loaded up the trailer and set off! I was on the road within an hour of buying the motor. The shell is a 94 R1.

Finally back from vacation and I came home to some steady progress on the FC.

That's it for now. We should make a lot of progress this week and I'll make sure to update the thread as progress is made.

Wheels sat Nice! The overs should sort it out or just a bit of fender-rolling?

Yeah definitely gonna run at least 50mm overs in the rear and 20mm fronts, should fit pretty good.

SRs hold together and respond to basic things really well under 400hp. Beyond that, you start to expose weaknesses. Not that it's a necessarily weak engine, it's just that any machine will eventually break at its weakest points and SRs over that mark start to demand more input for the increased output.

For a reliable 500hp I would do a 2J swap.
As far as SR in RX7 being wrong, it's no more wrong than this.

The two cars cancel each other out, balance is maintained and both owners are happy so it's all win IMO.

Sorry i haven't updated in awhile. Car is still in paint and coming along slowly but surely. Here are some pics of how we made an SR fit into an FC.
DSC_1065_zps2a41c892.jpg?t=1393538618
The SR is a front sump motor and unfortunately that does not work with the FC. Instead of moving the subframe we decided to make it rear sump. Here is the resulting 5.5 quart oil pan.

These are the mounts we made. After this pic we boxed them in for added strength.
