Pulling engine with automatic transmission

I need to pull the engine on a 1991 rx7 convertable to do a rebuild. Is it better to pull both engine & automatic tranny or can I just pull the engine only and leave the tranny in the car? Any problems I might run into? Thanks for any info you can give me.

If you pull both at the same time. Be sure to drain out the trans fuild. Otherwise itll get all over the floor when you pull your engine. This happened to me. -_-
