Damage under the tray. Mostly surface rust but rust nonetheless
Used a red scotchbright pad and instant detailer to get the really bad stains that degreaser couldn't get.
Would never do this to good paint of course but it came out really well
Here's the battery tray Im working with, sending it off to get powder coated and setting up the hardware tomorrow.
Already ordered cables and all that good stuff.
Going parts hunting tomorrow at the local wrecking yards too, should be fun
The place I went to go check to get the battery tray refinished isn't setup for powder coating just yet... Bummer
However I did score some power window doors and more s5 goods at the junkyard.
Having a fastenal store 5 minutes from my place is going to come in handy. Picked up new stainless allen bolts for the battery tray and a power distribution block.
Fancy gold plating for extra conductivity... Who am I kidding? I just thought it looked cool as hell lol
Factory(?) Mirrors that came with my junkyard doors.
Wanted to do as minimal cutting as possible to fit s5 tails. Bought a micro-dremel just for this purpose.
The final finish is not this rough I promise haha
Car shop glow tails tested and ready to go

Ordered some quickcar 2 awg cables, the kit comes with plated ring terminals and precut heatshrink tubing (best part). 150 amp marine grade circuit breaker and an inexpensive lug crimper off amazon to get started
Lug crimper in action, A strong mechanical connection is all that's needed, no flux or solder in the mix
Start from the middle and work your way out using when using heatshrink to avoid any air bubbles.
Bored out the negative battery terminal a smidge to accept the seat belt bolt and
removed some paint for the cable to make a good connection
All assembled
Tried to keep the battery as close to the center of the car as possible while still being even
Just need to bolt everything down and make it look pretty now
I'm pretty sure it's gone by now at this rate and just bare bones. *sigh*
Did you fab the battery holder yourself?
Never hurts to look!
And nah I'm no fabricator, Most of the car is going to be made up of "off the shelf" parts. Got the battery tray from ebay for less than 40 bucks

Would you mind sharing a link for the tray? My initial battery box was too big lol
