UGH! meh....



So, appears I need to do some research in regards to the rear wheel bearings if the 4 lug are compatible with the 5 lug hubs. Also appears I need different fuel tank straps...

It's always something in hindsight.

Mazdatrix shows all models of FC use the same rear wheel bearings, no difference between 4 and 5 lug hubs, turbo or NA...all the same.
Seals too.

S5's came with an 18 gallon fuel tank, that must be what you got.

that 1 gallon makes all the difference apparently.... Thanks for confirming the wheel bearings. I'll run them up to my mechanic. He works for beer on simple press jobs, and I do not argue.

You know the goofy "tapered" bolts that hold the Tank straps up? Looks like an m10 but spirals upwards? Any reason I could not get a longer bolt to make up the difference of the strap length? They are about an inch short.. well maybe two. Safety wise, the existing straps cover the entire tank and I do not think it would move around if I used them.

I just am worried that tapered bolt is there for a reason, impact resistant, or its designed to not back out over time and bumps/pot holes etc.

TBH, no, I don't recall anything special about the strap bolts but don't think they'd be any more prone to falling out than any other bolt in the car.

well, this is on hold for at least an extra week. Got hit with the end of the month speed trap down the road from me. Just yesterday I said "Getting close to that time again", and sure as ****... EVERY MONTH they do this ****. By the time I pulled away they had 6 more cars pulled over behind me.

Then There was another speed trap setup down the road from my work. This one is easily avoidable as he does not even try to hide. The one I got hit with they hide just after you come over a hill behind some power utility boxes so you can only see the front end of the blacked out charger. They line up 10 squad cars and pull out as you go by....

******* ***** man. the shitty part is you don't even have to be speeding, you are rolling down a hill towards them so unless you ride your brakes at that spot to slow down, of course you will be sped up.

Injectors were going to send out today as they are sitting next to me at my work station. but not now, $150 is now reserved for the state. I am going to fight this one as its borer line entrapment

These days traffic enforcement has more to do with revenue enhancement than public safety.
Your experience is a good example:

I assume you weren't doing 25+mph over the limit, just cruising in traffic like everyone else.
You get pulled for doing slightly over the posted limit but I can guarantee that some asshat trolling down the road at 10mph under the limit ( a far more dangerous situation) would roll by unscathed.
Who posed the greater danger and who got cited?

Don't even get me started on red light cameras...

This is exactly what it is. They do it every month same spot, summer months bi-weekly in the same spot. They are more aggressive at the end of the month to meet quota. My estimate would be $20k at least they made this morning on the sting operation.

I was going same speed as the Honda fit next to me, granted he got pulled as well, and as well as 6 total by the time I got handed my slip. that was in a matter of 5 minutes, 6 cars at a minimum of $150 fine each. Staggering profit generation.

The best part is how fast he peeled out around the corner and to catch up and cut the Honda fit off to get to me.

After rolling down the hill I immediately rev matched down to 4th and lightly pressed the brakes and was at 5mph over. he claimed 11mph.

whatever, I will go fight it like I normally do when these things happen. Have not had a speeding ticket in years. I'll still end up paying the fine, but it won't go on my record.

Truth be told, I have not touched them since they were installed in the car. I'll spray wax them before the car touches the ground again.

I swear I shot it in 720, but for whatever reason it did not upload as such.

As for the intake ports, I am borrowing a buddies stethoscope camera deal that has a wand on it to look down inside. I spun the rotating assembly around 15+ times earlier today with MMO to lube everything back up. I am sure I would of discovered something in that time "had I dropped something into there".


Should see the new bug zapper I picked up... heheheheeheh Big *** thing. It would fry a turkey.

BIG UPDATE BOYS!

Sent the injectors out.

aaaand i'm broke again till a side job this weekend. Need to pick up another banjo bolt to delete the FPD, and get an AFPR since I am bringing my walbro over from the red car. I have been running the red car on the stock FPR with the walbro for over a year with no problems so I am not entirely convinced I need an AFPR... but someone mentioned it someplace on here as being "a bad idea".

Probably research that before I spend the $150+. But anywho, I will get the injectors back within the week and reassembly can commence again.

Not using the 255 in the white car. buying 2 stock replacements and the walbro will sit on the shelf until I decide to work on the turbo swap. I think the only reason the red one runs as it is with the walbro is it is on its last legs haha.

I just want to say though, Ravenworks does mighty fine good work. Same day turn around ( I told them to take there time) and they cleaned the injectors like they came from the factory. I sent them in rusty, they came back polished like new $30each with a before/after flow chart. Highly recommend.

Picking up fuel straps on sunday, hopefully my local hoarder can meet me. Also placing what should be my final rock auto order to get this thing running and driving again.

I am planning on awaking this old girl from its 20+ year slumber this weekend. Rebuilding the sending unit tomorrow for it and then jumper the pin to check fuel pressure for any leaks. after that, top the coolant off and see what I have.
