Here is a little update.

I was able to smooth out the huge chunk that was taken out from the control arm. Other than that it got up pretty nice and I should be able to get my red fc down sometime this weekend

Time to start working on it again!!!

well my white fc is currently chillin until I get my list of part that I am "keeping" off of it and parts I will be selling, but if anyone is interested in some parts pm me and I'll let you know if I will be selling them or keepin them

need to get a new mirror piece for the side mirror

going to finish clearing everything out of there and put all my parts in boxes so I can start wire brushing the entire inside of the car to remove the tar and do some welding this winter

tar removal

For those who took the same route as me and decided to use a heat gun to remove the sound deadening material please pay attention..

before

after

With just 5 minutes of letting the 3m stuff sit. I was able to remove a majority of that black tar crap left over from my brilliant heat gun/scrapper idea

good stuff. I plan on using more to remove all the tar then I can start welding up some holes and stuff then prep then paint

A question...
It seems de rigueur to remove the factory sound damping material, how come?

Well I intend on painting the entire car. So IMO it is required to remove the sound material to "do it the right way." Even though the factory obviously painted the interior after they placed the material on the floor of the car.

Depends on if I want to track this car or not. If I decide to track it I won't put any back in. But if I decide not to track it ill put the dynamat on it.

That's not a late 60's Mustang under that cover, is it?
Looks like a great project you have going on! Looking forward to see where you are headed with it.

Thanks.
Right now I'm in the process of dismantling the s5 and separating the parts I'm keeping and parts I'm either selling or throwing away.

Long process but I'm labeling each part putting them in bags (nuts, bolts, screws, etc.) to make sure I know what to do with them as I get my s4 ready for the parts to be swapped

Warning!!!! Pay attention to lugs!!!!!

So...Today I felt like putting the three new lugs that MAX sent out for me since the others seemed to be cut wrong or wrong threading (not to mention F*##ed up one of my ARP studs) and came to find a very disturbing thing....

notice the color difference...

thats because one is not even aluminum

since when does aluminum hold a magnet?

and if it is supposed to be "aluminum" then why did I not get "aluminum" lugs the first time!!!!
