Rommel you can probably help me with this question. generally planing ahead. My car sprayed with acrylic enamel single stage.. I want to respray the car with some new coats of white and a clear it. I see the advantages of having a clear coat since the paint won't get stained up and and dull out after a while. Will there be problems going to a urethane base/clear system over that acrylic enamel if it is wet sanded and prepped first? Or go back to a acrylic enamel, than what could I clear that with? I can see the benefits of getting out of single stage paint.

Yeah bc/cc is the way to go. If you prep the acrylic then it will be fine spraying the urethane over it. Its when you do the other way around is when its bad. Acrylic is hard and urethane flexes so urethane can go over acrylic but acrylic cant go over urethane or else the urethane will flex and crack the acrylic on top.

On top of that, you could seal the old acrylic job with epoxy primer and then spray the urethane over that. If the acrylic job cracking or peeling in certain spots. then you wanna take that panel down past the acrylic so it doesn't ruin your new paint later down the line.

hey guys so I swapped the hotside on my turbo to the s5 hotside and also switched to the s5 manifold. Results were REALLY good. A big part of this was that the wastegate actuator on my s4 hotside was stuck open so it couldnt build boost.


I made 278whp which is a 20 hp gain but I think the best improvement is the 80 hp I gained at 4k lol. If you guys could see at 6k the hp drops a lot. It was at 10.5 psi and at 6k it drops to 8 psi. The shop was saying I could put a boost controller in to help regulate the boost at 10ish psi. Anyone chime in as to what else it might be?

**** brotha ur car is looking good . love the wheels . ive been working on mine lately . painted it with bedliner and new 15x8 -0,fenderflares also . what size housing u running in the fogs . i finally got some 6" yellow's. aint trying to ***** pic's lol

lookin good man. That paint came out really well! I have 5 3/4 in housing I got off ebay. It was such a pain because they had no mounting places.. had to tap into them.

Car updates, alignment today and WSIR on saturday! Hopefully lots of pics and vids.

Not much you can do about boost dropping off past 6k, I have a tuned Greddy ebc and i drop off after 6 as well. My redline's about 8, but I still shift around 6500.

Loving the car, don't care if I'm a thread necromancer lol. Front bumper is one of the best I have seen and I think it was originally an r magic design back in the day but I'm not sure these days. I read the whole thread today, makes me have hope for my up coming body work this spring. I don't have a paint booth or friends in painty-places (?, whatever) so I will attempt to build a frame big enough to paint in, walled by plastic so at least it might be debris/wind free. Buying a paint gun, have compressor, first time attempting but I have read a lot all over the net and dismissed the myths and embraced the realities so hoping it will come out good. anything is better then red/black/yellow/filler color though.

I don't like when build threads just leave off like this but I suppose its because he is finally fully enjoying the car and having too much fun to post. More pics would be nice. I wouldn't mind a nice high resolution for my background.
