My Sport 4 banger
At the beginning i want to say sorry.
I know that my build thread is not with rotary engine, but i have a good reason so hear me out.
I have bought red 86' Turbo II with 50K miles on the clock, has been in the collision, poorly repaired, and running.
Turns out it had a bad rubber seals. in collision, the radiator got punctured, leaked, car boiled a few times, seals toast.
Now. All would be fine if I was living in a country where anyone heard of rotary engines.
Problem is I had no means to buy parts without a great deal of problems and spending a small fortune for shipping and customs (30% + VAT on import of car parts).
So, after a year, somehow I managed to replace the seals by having them made by local shop that makes industrial rubber seals for some kind of chemical transporting machines or something like that.
they made them by sample, and they fitted great.
I have put he engine back together, and prepped everything for getting the engine in...
Since I work on this car at the garage that is not near my house, I spend only one day a week doing work on the car.
So next time i went to garage, a week later I found out i got robbed sometime during the week (nobody noticed since the thieves closed the doors when they left).
My engine got stolen, the tools, rims, tires, audio... everything but the shell.
To cut the story short, got angry, sold the shell few days later and went home to lick my wounds.
A month later Arctic grey Sport shell was on classifieds for 300EUR, and i bought it...
I found a Mazda 929 transmission and drive shaft, got my old F2T block, put 2.0 8V pistons in it, and slapped the 2.0 929 head on it. Completed everything with stock 2.0 FE 8V ECU. Put the F2T turbo and this is what it sounded like:
Had a great time for a year with it. Fun times...
Soon i got bored with it and wanted something more...
The insanity intensified...
Tore the engine out gutted every wire and i started a two year journey of fitting the FE DOHC (the holy grail of Mazda piston engines) in to the shell.
Last week i started it up:
The list:
FE DOHC engine with stock ECU
Fabricated intake manifold
Fabricated oil pan
Fabricated relocation shaft for stock distributor - constructing that one and fabricating it took me almost 6 months to do.
So for now i have some minor fluid leaks, an couple of gremlins to figure out and i am going to drive it for a month or so, and when i get bored of 143HP it has, i am going to turbo it.
Thanks for reading this looong post.
I hope that(considering the amount of rotaries FC in my country = 0) i will not get flamed (a lot) because i really like this car and deep down i really wish i had a proper BRAP BRAP.
Cheers

Well...
This is not Miata (mx5) engine. Those are 1.6&1.8l 4 cylinder engines.
This one is from MX6 or 626 coupe in Europe or Kia Sportage in USA.
A bit better in therms of being beefier than BP engine from Miata.
Anyhow,
As i said, i would like to have a rotary engine, but in my country it is as rare as a unicorn fart. And i even considered to buy an RX8 and take the Renesis, but that was to expensive for me...
If you guys consider this to be a travesty, move move the thread or erase it.
If you are ok with it, i can post some more pictures and progress as it goes.

dont kill the cones
I'm a rotary purest but still a fan of this build especially because you wanted to keep the chassis in an area where they are rare. I get it you cant get the parts, and wanted to have something cool. Keep the updates coming!!

Still haven't bled the brakes, so no driving time, but the car now has about one hour of working time, and everything is running smoothly.
Need another set of hands (or foot) for bleeding the brakes
Since I had nothing better to do, i did some "beautification" on the engine.
And also on the shoes.
17"x8.5J ET35on the front with 205/45
17"x8.5J ET13 on the back with 225/55
No rubbing, but, I need to put spacers in front, since i want to put 225/50 and that will touch the struts.
Following - the hood:
Probably gonna make it from polyester or carbon math.
But first i need to make a mold, in the next few weeks.
Stay tuned.

Nice project man!
too bad you got robbed my friend also got robbed, he had some good 12a housings at the shack and some junkies broke in and probably sold these as scrap metal..
And yes, the shipping and taxes of car parts is insane, luckily i had a chance to cheat a bit, but that meant waiting for months.
Good luck with your build!

WOW!!!
old stuff but thank for interest in it.
There is no adapter per se. i have made a shaft on the lathe.
One side is threaded and screws into camshaft nut place, and the other half is made to specs of the distributor guts.
I will try to find a part that i made (currently running distributorless) and take a photo of it.,..
Best regards
