My rhd conversion

Hello rx7club! I have been a long time stalker on this forum. I decided that I want to share my rhd conversion with you guys. This is my second fc. Its and 87 s4 Ive had this car for a few years. When the second engine blew I parked it for a while. While it was parked I came across a rhd clip for pretty chip. It had no engine and was pretty bare but had everything I needed to complete the conversion. About 2 months ago I decided to start this project. It has some old jic coils short shifter NRG quick release grip royal steering wheel 3inch single exhaust ford Taurus efan koyo radiator stage 2 clutch and I'll be rocking 17x8.5 and 18x9.5 hre wheels off a corvette. Its nothing special but I love it. I also have a t2 rtek ecu that I will be running with a safc and a small t3/t4 turbo. Any way here are some pics hope you like.

When i first got it.

It had xxr 527 wheels on it.

Started cleaning prepping and painting bay

All unused holes filled and bay painted

Subframe and steering rack in

Control arms painted.. Still need to do some suspension work tho.

Test fitting wheels and spacers

Temporary 6 port pulled from a running car. Need to make sure my wiring is good and that it starts. Might just put my turbo setup on this block. My 4 port block is no where close to beong done.

Bay almost complete. It looks purty!

Shot of my steering wheel

Dash in..What a mess..

This is how it sits now shouldnt be long untill its up and running.

its been a while since i last posted an update on my rhd conversion. so i got the it running with a s4 6 port keg. nothing special had good compression so tossed it in. i then wired up the safc and got that setup. worked on the brakes then i did a subaru master cylinder conversion. then i got some tires for my hre 540's and mounted those. car looks great with them but i may need a smaller spacer in the front. i then got the header bolted to the rest of the 3 inch exhaust. then got all the electrical sorted out. i let it sit for a while and got so used to driving my 1.8t gti that i decided the 7 needed boost. so i picked up some s4 t2 sensors injectors and rtek chipped ecu and dug out my s4 t2 intakes and front cover that ive been saving for this very moment. ripped it apart made a custom manifold out of the header and dug out my old turbo i had on my old 2.0t golf. so now she sits on jack stands waiting for the front cover and oil pan to be put back on. then the intakes need to be port matched and painted then it could all go back together. i still need to upgrade the fuel pump and get an fpr. i plan to only run 5 psi for now untill i get a better ecu and fmic. anyway enough chit chat time for some pics yayyy!

That looks like a really fun build! I know a guy around here that did a swap like that.

I wonder how many clips are still around these days. Nice find on it!

I think I'd rather just buy a RHD FC than do a conversion. I also imagine it is only LHD markets on the North American continent that give two flying fawks about what side the steering wheel is on..

I mean.. if you want RHD because it will somehow make you appear to be cooler than you are, why would you do it the 'fake' way converting a LHD car...?

Its not 'JDM ' if its still a North American delivered car...

Maybe I'm splitting hairs.

hate it or love it. It's my car and I had a blast building it. I never intended to do this conversion. It wasn't for the cool factor and not once did I say i wanted my car to be more jdm. I found the front clip for $350 minus engine. I just couldn't pass on it so I said to myself screw it why the **** not lol. Plus I love seeing people's reactions when they see this things. Right now it's running a 6 port turbo setup. T2 intakes, injectors, sensors, rtek ecu, 255 pump, fmic, upgraded clutch, custom turbo manifold, custom 3" turbo back exhaust, and a cheap turbo (for now). Running 93 octane and premix. It should make decent power at 5psi. I'll post more pics later today.
