recently came up on the opportunity to purchase a s4 TII for in fairly good shape for real cheap so I had to jump on it. motor ran but smoked something fierce so since I have plans for a full restoration to bring her back to her original beauty I wasted no time ripping the motor out here's my progress so far

Was also going to do a street port but ive never ported a rotary before so 8m not sure if I should attempt t9 port it myself or send it away to be professionally ported anyone ported before? Any suggestions as to if I should do it and proper procedures? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Never use a die grinder on rotors man..hand scrubbing only with scotch brite.. I don't know if I would use those now.

 

The attachment I used wasn't stone or sandpaper it was more like a hard scotch bright pad and while I am new to this whole rotary engine field I am definitely no stranger to automotive repair so ill definitely say this is not my first Rodeo. That being said while cleaning up the rotors I was definitely making sure that the pad I was using was not removing any surface material and just cleaning and removing all the carbon build up. Ill definitely make sure that everything is with tolerance before reassembling the engine but honestly I don't see how it could be a problem

 

Its pretty much stock for the most part, but o boy do I have grand plans for it lol idk where to beging, well I wanna do a full restoration, street port with a nice size turbo, my goal is around 450hp? stand alone ecu, a nice set of coils and all the suspension goodies pretty wanna do the whole car from bumper to bumper lol

 

It doesn't matter regardless because of the speed of the tool it takes off material. Also you removed the friction coatings on the sides of the rotors.

Yeah and ive built a couple rotaries and have a license in the automotive trade..so I'm not talking out of my *** either..just trying to help you out man. Feel free to message any of the well known builders and no doubt they will agree.
