Is my engine blown?
Is my engine blown?
I am the original owner of an 1989 Rx-7 Turbo. It has 92k miles. It starts and runs good. Has plenty of boost. Not as much as originally, but still not bad. The symptoms are more and more gas in the engine oil. I am changing the engine oil very frequently. I can smell gas when I check oil level. Also, when it gets hot outside and the engine is warm, it floods easy when I try to start. I have a fuel shut off on the console to get it started. It works great. Any advice on a potential rebuild is appreciated.
Thanks

I would not think the motor is blown due to the fact it's still making decent power, but the only way to determine that is a compression test. I would consider checking the fuel injectors and/or the health of the spark plugs, wires and coils as to why you're not burning all the fuel.
Yes. I did a compression check on each rotor. Front one was 71, rear one was 60 psi. Spec is 85. The engine still runs good, but due to low compression it floods easily. This results is gas in the oil. Another issue is the fuel injectors. They are having leak by. This all results in hot start issues. Bottom line is the engine needs a rebuild.
