Just trying to see if it will even turn over first.... If this would stop it from doing so, I will gladly change them all.

We had problems with that alarm system a few years back... I also don't even know where the remote is for it.

Anywho, those alarms will prevent the car from starting if not disabled completely.

Well, it seems the engine is going to require some serious work.... After closer inspection I'm seeing A LOT of rust on what were once moving parts. Rather that beat my head against the wall trying to revive an engine I don't plan to keep, I'm going to start stripping the car down. Shopping around right now for a turbo 13b and transmission.

The weather will be against me pretty soon, but I should be able to get it gutted over the next weeks. During December/January I'll form an overall list of parts that I'll need to start the build.

I've been shopping around for engines. Right now, I see these:
JDM Mazda RX7 13BT Rotary Turbo Engine
JDM Mazda RX7 13BT Rotary Turbo Engine

Are these good prices? If so, I should be able to get one right after christmas (need to buy gifts lol).

IMO do what you would like with your money. That a reasonable price, but I agree that you will more likely than not have to rebuild the motor. And from what I heard you'll need to replace the omp lines depending on how long the motor has sat.

It's truly a hit or miss when it comes to motors bro. If you buy one pray its going to be legit.

Also, you'll need the t2 driveshaft and diff unless your running a custom driveshaft

Ok, so I need to either....

A. Find a cheap *** 13 turbo because it needs to be rebuilt anyway....

B. Find a freshly rebuilt 13bt....

How much do people charge for a rotary rebuild?

Ok, so I planning to maybe do the rebuild myself, but then I saw the price for the rebuild kits.... LOL

Rotary Resurrection does rebuilds starting at 1400. The master kits almost cost that much. I might as well send it off to be done than trying to tackle that in between my work schedule

So that's where I'm at for now. Still inspecting parts on the car to see what else I'll need, meanwhile putting away more money for the rebuild.

Plan to pay $2500 to 5000 for a rebuild depending on the condition of your engine.

No worries, I googled it....

Drove by yesterday and spoke with him for a bit. With his help, I now have a realistic budget for what I want to accomplish.

Thanks for recommending them!

OK! I'm back

Just want to let everyone know I did not abandon this build. My dad moved all his equipment from our home garage to some warehouse he was working at for a few months.... He is now back home with all his equipment and finishing a paint job on a cobalt.

Once the cobalt is done, we will be making some room to pull the rx7 inside and start the tear-down. The car has spent most of it's life parked, so the body is actually in flawless condition. No dents or dings.

My dad is going to strip all the paint and I'll be getting the engine ready for removal.

Back at it!

Ok, so BIG update now

I sold my 08 Spec-V Sentra and now daily drive an 05 cobalt. No car payment and cheaper insurance means I now have the extra funds to make this build happen.

I'm getting a 13b turbo engine from 3 Face Racing in Oxford. This will be a freshly rebuilt engine. I just paid the deposit on Friday. It should be ready in about 3 to 4 weeks. Also, they will be removing my current 13b N/A engine and taking it as payment for the installation of the new one. I think that's a fair deal as I don't have any use for the n/a and won't have to pull the engine on my own now.

Until the engine is ready, I'm working on the car at home..... cleaning out the interior and taking care of some things on the to-do list. I was able to find the driver side window that I purchased some time back (it was hiding on the top shelf of the garage). I'll try to get that installed sometime this week; that should keep the damn squirrels out lol.

Are they swapping in just the keg and keeping yours, or are they doing the whole TII swap (price of parts excluded) for the price of an NA engine?
