saaaame haha! I love the feeling of having new parts! Just got my driver power window switch replaced brand new. To the original poster, your intercooler looks immaculate! Did you do anything to getting it back to looking original? I'm currently in the process of doing that, and the trim around the cooler needs a bit of lovin lol
I used the green part of a scotch bright pad and some hot water. about 15mins later looked brand new. I even straightened out the fins. Next i want to get some painter's tape and some black paint (maybe spray paint) and go over the the fins I straightened.....

the exhaust is all stock with the exception of a main converter replacement pipe. the mufflers are from an N/A though as i was unable to find any oem TII mufflers that weren't rotten. there should be pics and videos of the exhaust install on one of the pervious pages.. if not i'll add the pics.

i actually used steer wool on the area where the intercooler seal sits. the area where the writing is that says 13B Intercooled TurboII has a raw aluminum finish and is unplished so i left that area alone. i then used a little wax and coated the seaing area to help protect it from turning black again where the seal sits.

getting parts has not been too terribly bad actually, as most are still available. the parts that are still available are usually pretty expensive. but when all is said and done, i feel that the car is worth putting the money into and the end result will reflect the time, effort, and money spent.

It will be worth it! A 10ae has actually won 1st place at the (excuse spelling-) Concour de elegance show in pebble beach, and to me any car that has won that show is well worth the time and money invested because as far as classic cars go that is THE show.
So how much have you spent at the dealer? If you dont mind me asking. Just wondering because I know the dealers are very expensive (from my own experience getting parts for my 10ae). You MIGHT be able to get some oem parts through Mazdatrix at a cheaper price but then you wont have a dealer receipt and I dont know how many oem parts they have.
Are you going to 7stock 13 in Irvine Ca? I would love to see your car in person

to answer your question about how much i have spent at the dealer, i estimate around $4K between two restorations. i placed an order at the dealer today and it was around $80. i get a discount at the dealer. my discount is 10% over cost or 20% off if buying smaller parts. for example, my 10AE shift ****/boot combo listed for $341.73. i paid $225.50. today i ordered a new fron MAZDA logo for the front bumper (will be installed when the car is painted), bacv gasket, new turbo line gaskets, 14 underhood clips, 3 battery box decals, and a new black plastic inner mirror trim piece. mine is cracked in three places.
i will not make it to 7stock. CA is too far of a drive for me and the wife and kids. she would have to follow me and i dont think the car will be painted before then. i want to be able to trust the car for long hauls but the rest of its life in my care will probably be short drives under 100 miles each way. after this 10AE is finished i want to buy and restore another one. i would then give it to my daughter or my son, whoever expresses more interest in the car and helps with the restoration. if neither do then i will keep the car for myself or sell it to another enthusiest. my 10AE now is a car that i plan on hanging onto for the rest of my days.

Great work
Keep it up man, seeing such a great car coming back to life is great. I love all the new parts that you're locating and it is great that Mazda still has some parts left. I called and also ordered the mirror inside covers, brand new, and actually cheaper than used ones on Ebay. Now if I could get myself to spend 130 bucks on that lower rubber lip for my RX7...
Keep up the good work!

thank you guys for the kind comments!!! very much appreciated. i wish i had more money to put into the car. for now its kind of at a stand still but its driveable and moderatly reliable and i very much enjoy the car. i hope to put some more miles on it this year before it gets too cold out. i'm at 99,997 miles.
