flipkc's JDM FC3S

Backstory...

Traded my $500 AE86 for this car. She wasn't running due to a broken alternator belt. Went to Lordco, bought a $17 belt, installed it, threw it through aircare, and officially had a nice running, stock, 91 JDM S5 T2 for $517.

Traded the car for a 91 Soarer. Soarer sucked *****, just wasn't my kind of car. The RX7 was sold to a guy out in Kelowna, and after a year and a half, the owner emails me and asks me for a trade + cash deal. Little did I know it was my old RX7. With 8000 more kms then when I left her, I got my FC back with new wheels/tires, and a couple other parts, but otherwise exactly as I left her. (May 26 2011)

Thus, my First FC . I tried a bunch of different RHD cars such as Skyline GTS-T's, GTR's, Silvia's, and a couple sr'd 240's...none came close to my FC...for me at least. Stitched dash, beautiful interior, beautiful exterior, sexy rear end, etc.

I guess this will be my build thread.

Some new pictures and a bit of an update:

Hey all,

I just purchased a brand new 2011 Honda Ruckus so I've been a little busy with that, bought a few goodies for it. But I haven't forgotten about my precious FC! Here's a couple recent pictures:

Getting some work done by Bill @ Independent Speed Shop here in Langley on Monday, just a check over, as well as oil change and coolant flush/refill.

Next big purchases coming are PBM Coilovers and a Haltech PS1000 w/ Mazda 13B Kit.

Cheers!

The bay is completely stock other than the Blitz Bypass Valve, haha. Absolutely no modifications, stock airbox as well.

It's a Rep front bumper but I'm not exactly sure of what brand/make. Thanks for the comments!

Decided to find out with the help of the a friend from a local club to see what bumper it was, and was shocked to see it's an Authentic RE-Amemiya bumper...but alas, the condition it is in will not suffice for the look of the car. Gah!

She ate an alternator belt on the way to a car meet the other day so I did this yesterday...

Completed:

- New Alternator/Air Pump/Power Steering Belt
- Removed A/C Belt till I get it refilled/refreshed
- Cleaned off all pulleys (tedious work...)

Up next:

- Compression Test
- TPS install/calibration
- Downpipe Install
- AEM WB O2 kit Install
- Sand down/prep OEM JDM S5 Bumper for paint.

Next to purchase:

- Solid/Stiffer Engine/Transmission Mounts
- New tires for winter (thanks to Rob for the free set of GXL wheels!)
- S5 T2 TPS (glh-fc)
- Undercoat/Rustproof before winter

Found a retail price for a new front bumper...

http://usa.auto-style.jp/?pkey=item_...5&car_url=fc3s

Fuuu! I think I'm just going to get it repaired! Haha.

It won't let me edit the original post...blah!

Nice car! I busted a nut!

However, unfortunately I'm speaking from experience, I would stay away from all rotary works products. Read this thread about RW and youll see my poor product reviews attached: https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/rotary-works-products-dont-do-963334/

Are you gonna pick a new spot on the downpipe for your wideband sensor? Or just run it on the o2 bung?

Snoopy, I DO know of a guy locally parting out his JDM FC. If you want I can hook you up with his email? Let me know, sir.

Brian, yes, there will be a separate placement for the wideband O2 on the downpipe, as well as retaining the stock O2 sensor. I'll be running the Haltech PS1000 so I'm unaware of only being able to run the Wideband O2 for both the standalone and the wideband unit. Also, just in case I revert back to stock ECU, I'd like to retain the NB O2 sensor.

I got a compression test done yesterday, and she had 90+ psi on both rotors and on each face front and rear, so I'm really happy about that. Apparent my mechanics gauge reads low as well so it's good to know that it's higher then what he was actually able to record.

That's a load off my shoulders .

nice! I'm at 300hp at 10psi. I didn't know stock coils could handle up to 14 psi? I'm shooting for higher boost as well and my tuner recommended LS2 coils from a yukon (ACDelco 585s).

I have a Garret TS04, 1000cc injectors all around, Ps1000, PLX tuner edition wideband, 3" Exhaust.

Will that downpipe work with your prospective turbo upgrade? congrats with the purchase and good luck!
