Continued from our othr fathers son build post. Well after we posted last we hit many setbacks. And being on a budget we've finnaly made progress. After removing the interior under the sound deadening we found sadly our rx had sustained severe rust. Not being able to find any aftermarket floors we created our own and new stronger frame rails. Finishing off with a nice undercoating. We also decided to swap out the heavy olds 350 for a street strip built 400sbc. Finishing the roll cage in the next week, and then reinstalling new wiring.

Reason: More information
For now using a turbo 350, but as we can afford it we are going to swap back to manual transmission, left all the pedals and hydraulics in for future swap.
Just quickly primed it to protect all the new metal, but trying to convince the boy to "murder it out" trying to find wider rims and wide body kit for future once its running.
sad to see the piston engine go back in, but at the same time....I get it....
My dad and I used to work on his first RX7 together, an 83. It's what got me into cars and still some of the best memories I have of growing up. Keep up the good work!
Next phase we put all new gaskets seals and filters in the engine and transmission. Painted the engine bay, and the engine and put it all back in. Headers, power steering, alternator in next. The boy wanted something totally expected when opening hood. It looks good against the black engine bay.
After a long interesting journey today it finnaly hit the streets for a test run. Everything went awsome. But now for the winter going to pull it all apart and run the new wiring kit and neaten up hoses and wires . Next hopefully a nice widebody kit. First stop for fuel. Stopped at a local car show. New windshield.
