Drift build 2.0 - FC3S

Well, sold my Miata and just picked up a couple of FC's. One's in pretty good shape, the other is a parts car for when I hit walls and break stuff.

Don't have any pics of the parts car, but here's the one I'll be sliding.

Keeping full interior in it for now, waiting until after I get it running and slide it a bit before I take it out. If I even do. I kind of want this drift car to have full interior.

And now for the kicker: This is what's going in it.

In case you can't tell, it's a dohc KA from an s13.

Not going ka-t, this is just to hold me over until I get an sr. Plus it'll set it up, so when I DO get the sr, I'll just have to weld up a rear sump and go.

Neither of the FC's are running, so I'll be starting pulling everything from the red car this week.

Plans so far are:

Install KA
Install coilovers
Weld diff

After I slide it some I'll probably cage it and do camber links and toe links and stuff, but for now that'll do.

Got the welder and grinders ready in the garage, gonna start fabbing this week!

Wouldn't it be cheaper to just swap the turbo 13b in? Cheaper also... I'm looking forward to this build tho.

^ it possibly could, but I'm doing all the fab work and wiring myself, so it won't be very expensive at all for the KA. And when I go sr, it'll be the cost of the engine + misc to get it running (intercooler, fuel pump, ect), which you'd need for a 13b-t anyway. In the long run, it'll be about the same price.

And honestly, although it might be blasphemy, I'm not crazy about rotaries. I prefer SR's over just about anything.

wtf?

that sure is a lot of work to gain 10hp over the stock na..

not to mention the t2 engine makes more power stock for stock over the sr and costs half as much

I have a Miata also. Nb1 and I was looking into swapping in a sr . But the kit was too pricey. I prefer putting that money into building the 1.8bp motor. But I like the idea of the swap. Do it !!! Mayb you can help me fab a kit if I decide go your route . Lol

True. You can find good deals on t2 13b's. But in my location, nobody's running rx7's and sr's and ka's are much easier (and cheaper) to come by. If I blow a ka, I can spend $150 and get another running longblock the next day. 13b's are kinda difficult to find here.
