I'm interested to see the specs and power on those coils, and Dynatek Arc-2 unit. Perhaps I'll have to check these out.

◦Intelligent Spark Profiling (ISP) allows for less delay between successive sparks
◦Spark Restrike up to 4500 RPM
◦Provides this high level of output from as low as 8 Volts from the battery
◦Works with any 2 coil OEM ignition, with or without fac ignitor (some systems may require replacement coils)
◦Built in launch limiter, works from 2000-11900 RPM
◦Built in fixed timing retard function
◦Tach output

Dynatek has introduced the ARC-2 for 4 cylinder Automobile applications. This CDI ignition is capable of producing over 50, 000 Volts at the spark plug, and has the highest spark energy of any CDI on the market. It is designed to optimize the ignition of the modified vehicles, providing the strong spark needed to develop peak power for turbocharged, nitrous oxide and high compression applications.

Intelligent Spark Profiling in the restrike mode allows for less delay between successive sparks. It also features a built in launch limiter for drag style launches as well as a built in retard mode. The lightweight and compact ignition will be offered in plug in kits for select motorcycles & automotive models that will make installation a breeze, with no need to cut into the stock harness. For other models, a universal install kit is available.

Interesting...never heard of Dynatek. What did this unit set you back? I already have a CDI box, just curious if this cheaper alternative.

they're about $325 for the CDI and about $75 for the universal harness(a bit overpriced for the universal harness but eh, you need it).

will show how it's all mounted in a bit, i work late today.

Arc2 systems are nice. They pack a hell of a punch and seem to take tons of abuse. Many DSMers run them.

pics of the placement of the ignition system, still doing some finishing up of the wiring for the CDI for the leadings. placed the dynatek up front to try and keep it cool and to get some airflow to it.

trailing firing off the OEM ignitor.

yeah, i can't find anywhere that has cap inserts and boots for the HEI tower connections. so for now i just tossed on some wires for GM applications that i had lying around. the OEM coils have an inverted style connection.

i'll try some of the race shops but to build the wires to suit this modification might require something special ordered to retain the thicker wires.

thanks, i did have to modify the original brackets to mount them but all said and done they fit like a glove there.

for the difference in plug wire mounting here is a reference pic with the stock coil versus the GM tower coils.

lol yes, very important being the leading coil signal wire to fire the leading coils. (which will be the input to the dynatek to fire the coils sequentially in waste spark format)

so the whole ignition system will still work the same as OEM but the plugs will be getting more voltage for a hotter consistent spark, mainly the leadings.

ran the leading coils in series for waste spark, positive from the CDI to the positive input on #1 coil, negative from #1 coil to positive of #2 coil and negative of #2 coil to the ground input from the CDI.

trailings are wired up exactly as the OEM coils would be off the ignitors with the factory wiring, just cut the terminals off and installed new ones for the HEI coils.

car runs as it did so everything looks copasetic for now, i just need to verify all 4 plugs are firing as they should and at the proper timing.

the car is blocked in the shop so for now i just need to figure out what to do for the ignition wires before running it a little longer then off to the dyno. i can't breathe if i run it inside the shop for more than a few minutes at a time... damn bridgeports.

got the cars moved around with some help from the shop next door so moved it to the back for some needed fresh air to run the engine in some more and to get rid of the mix of old gas in the tank.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVvKr...ature=youtu.be

yes it needs a bath and i'm going to wash it before taking it over to the dyno.

i'm not sure why but it seems even more aggressive now with the new ignition system, builds boost and gets surge just taking off from a stop.. i still have to double check the timing but the CAS is stabbed correctly and timing should be close to where it needs to be already.

nah, just a dinky standard T6 flanged BW S475 with dual Tial 46's with water cooling on the wastegates. as far as i know the first true T6 flanged put onto a rotary. most people limit them with the T4 flange aftermarket downgrade.

note: i didn't do the turbo work up to the pictures seen, just rebuilt the cosmo block and will be setting everything up from here. everything is powder coated, ceramic coated or polished by sublet from the customer to a local shop.
