Chrispy's 10th anniversary resto-mod

Hi all,

Welcome to my build thread, I'll start with the history of this build, bought the car 1.5 years ago with a "blown apex seal" car came with fc2000 bumper, sparco steering wheel, blue generic racing seats, turbo back exhaust not sure of make but is dual with like 4-5" tips, hks intake, apexi bov... Car has some minor rust, but not too bad... Anyways first thing I did was rip out the engine, and drop it off at rx7 specialties where Adam rebuilt it with the following mods:
Fd stat gears, fd lightened rotating assembly with 3mm nrs ceramic seals, fd flywheel/ act clutch, assembly has 2 new s5 rotor housings, good used front and intermediate housings ( destroyed due to rotor smashing into them) engine is studded and street port performed...I think that was it
Other mods
For turbo I am modifying my current Neukin undivided into a true divided without waste gate, I'm going with an EFR 7670 internal w/g .92
Neukin vmount finally received after 2.5 years of bull (Neukin can die)
Haltech ps1000
Painless chassis harness 20 circuit waterproof
Stack Gauges dash assembly with gps speedometer
Ffe Hall effect sensor
Ffe fuel rails
4 X 1000cc ID injectors
Walbro 485 pump
I am ordering a manual steering rack
May also depower current rack
Performed lower intake mod (thread posted by yours truly) after 50+ hours finally done lol
Currently waiting for garage to warm up to paint engine bay and install engine...
Interior mostly stripped out sound deadening removed, gonna install new deadening, lots of work planned once I can paint and install engine, than I can tackle wiring the entire car literally, I'm hoping turbo fits !!! When it warms up pics will be posted!!!
Once running, I'm installing non-abs parts (oem lines and master) replacing all wheel bearings suspension bushings/mounts, rebuilding all 4 calipers, new pads, new rotors, new ball joints, new tie rods, rebuild diff, strip/ repair underside... Goal for completion is this spring...next winter budget may include wheels and coil over set up...
Also considering installing 6 point cage, doing custom upper intake manifold, I have an fd upper/ throttle body don't know which way to go... Also considering painting the engine bay/car black I know it's 10Ae but I was thing 10ae black edition please fill me I on your opinions

So I did 2 humorous mistakes this week
#1 I sanded and painted my main pulley so my timing marks are gone...
#2 while sanding the engine bay I had moved the fuel hose and it literally drained out half a tank on the garage floor which is unfortunetly attached to the house... So with the temp in the garage barely being above freezing and a nice warm temp of -20 outside having to vent really sucks... But with lots of absorbent and multiple applications of pinesol and ventilation fumes are gone... Now I need to try to heat the garage again... Atleast I have my ffe and EFR parts coming in this week also removed deadening as it was cold enough to just chip away lol

I see not all my photos attached ... Odd I guess it's only letting me do one sorry all, today was decently productive, almost ready for primer, garage is a huge mess lol, I keep finding more and more to take off removed brackets for a/c, power steering, and horn... I plan on mounting it else where, now the brace is nice and smooth looking other than the oil cooler bracket which may have to be moved... Yes more to come, I'm really hoping the turbo will fit without hitting the frame, it has about 1" clearance from my intake, these turbo's are awkwardly shaped defiantly would have to go external wg setup if you went any bigger

I say stick with white, just find a nicer white to paint the car.

Decided on going nighthawk black engine bay/ under the car and inner fenders... And probably go with that premixed champ white for exterior I love when the engine bay has contrast

So I didn't have too much time today but I decided to test fit turbo with engine in the bay, and check clearance with vmount rad, seems like it will fit, had to massage the fender, when I modify the manifold to swap to divided flange/ plate off wastegate port/ install divider between ports? I'm thinking if some angle is taken out of the flange it will give a bit more clearance

Ok well after some frustration and cleaning my garage up a bit decided best route to go with on this set up is to build a new manifold from scratch, I mounted the vmount and decided there was no room for an intake and with the engine fully bolted down turbo does not fit, I'm gonna build a short runner tubular manifold with the flange facing a much steeper angle allowing for the actuator to sit directly below the turbo, and giving the exhaust a straight shot to turbo, on another note: undivided Neukin manifold and a Mvr 44mm tail wastegate installed but never run for sale hope to recoup some cost to change manifold

Very interested to see how the EFR works for you. I have been eyeing up this turbo as well. What are your goals and how long till you have it running? Keep on chuggin - it looks great!

Well been a busy month, not much progress, I had a couple patches to weld in the engine bay, I'm hoping to have the engine bay body work done and primed this weekend, I still have to depower my rack, and install new bushings in the control arms, hopefully have the engine back in soon, leaving the bay primed till I have my plumbing all figured out including mounting my ls2 coils... I'm looking for 400rwhp at bar in Calgary elevation 3600' hopefully I'll be able to put some decent progress up after the weekend
