Oh awesome, thanks. Do you know if people ever sell used ECUs? I was looking and didn't really see any. It's not like a have the money right now, or a car to put it in haha (needs to be rebuilt before I can really even start it).

Plasti dip? What's that? I actually need to fix the front lip, it has a crack and a couple rips in it >< I actually want to paint the whole car black with blue accents, but I haven't figured out the logistics quite yet haha.

Plasti dip is a brand of a spray paint in a can that once it dries up you can peel it right off

I'm a little confused, why would you want to peel it off? It does seem though, that if it's rubbery it would prevent the cracking that my front lip is experiencing right now...

Yea you don't want to peel it off but say if your going to a show you can peel it off and re spray the night b4 so its perfect or if you want to change your accent color you can peel it off and paint a different color.

Here its a link to the write harness adaptor. They also sell the power FC but you could probably find one cheaper on ebay

Oh, cool thanks I haven't figured out what a price range is for plasti dip, but I'm sure if I Google for a retailer that's around here I can figure out what I'd be looking at for the lip. I'm guessing it would be about $100-150, but I have no idea

Not even you could just buy 1 or 2 cans. If you just want black most Walmarts stores carry the black for like $8 a can

Oh that's pretty awesome. Do you know where you can get the custom colors?

So, I'm a little concerned about some stuff with my build right now. Like stated before, I'm running the stock ECU with a t3/t4 turbo (at least I'm told it has a t3/t4). I haven't done a compression check yet - this is due to the fact I took the intercooler piping off before someone told me I should even do one, and I'm assuming you shouldn't turn the car over when the pipes aren't connected haha. But anyways, I'm hoping the engine didn't blow due to fuel starvation (it had a FCD in the car, but wasn't installed - think I said that too), but I'm going to assume that if I rebuild it that even if that isn't why it blew last time, it'll cause it to blow this time. And based on what I've been told, and the slight amounts of physics/chemistry that I know, I'd rather not need new rotors/housings from fuel starvation haha.

Anyways, now that I found a guide on how to rebuild the engine for less than $1,000 it's actually starting to look like an option at some point in the semi near future. However, I'm going to get an aftermarket ECU after I rebuild it or after I buy the parts to rebuild it anyways, might get the ECU before I finish the rebuild. And basically there is a billion options when it comes to ECUs haha, and I found that most of them were over $1,000 - which for a poor college guy that's a lot of money. After enough research though I found that Megasquirt could be a pretty good option, plus it's only like $645 for the unit (http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/m...led-p-435.html) and $89 (http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/d...pin-p-413.html) for the wiring harness. Would MS work for my setup? Would I loss anything, or possibly run into any problems? If so, what would another recommended option be? I'm kinda at a loss, it's hard when there is so many options haha

Oh, and how hard will it be to find someone who could tune the MS? I'm a little concerned about that too.

Thanks for all the help, ya'll are definitely awesome.

You can compression check the engine as long as the battery, transmission and starter are connected. Just pull the egi fuse so it doesn't try to actually run. It won't be as accurate as a hot compression test, but it will tell you if you have even compression across all the rotor faces.

A T3/T4 turbo isn't anything to get excited about on a 13b. What markings are on the compressor housing? If it's anything other than stock, it will have a custom exhaust manifold too. Pictures will help us to help you identify it.

There is an entire section of the forum dedicated to engine management systems. It is a tricky topic, so don't worry if you feel overwhelmed at first. https://www.rx7club.com/engine-management-forum-37/

Compressor housing? What's that? The exhaust manifold looks stock to me though. There are pictures of the exhaust manifold (well you can see it anyways) on the first page. If you need more pictures I can take more.

And okay, well I'm not going to actually start the car until I get the engine rebuilt (that's my plan anyways, I may have to move it a little bit though). I appreciate the clarification on that.

I thought that was the turbo? Can you have a stock housing with an aftermarket turbo? o.O

My eyes aren't that good and there's too much stuff in the way. Simply, stock manifolds are cast iron, most aftermarket manifolds are welded stainless.

The compressor housing is part of the turbo that connects to the air filter. It is the most visible part of a modified turbo. Stock ones have "ht-18" cast in them. Yes, you can have a combination of stock and aftermarket parts to make a 'hybrid' turbo. There's lots of info about all this stuff that a quick google search will explain better than I can.

Oh, I read a bit about hybrid turbos, I was a little confused about what that meant though haha. And alright, well I'll check it when I get home tonight. What exactly is the purpose of knowing this? Will it affect the likelihood that my engine blew due to starvation?

I did a "compression check" last night, and I heard 3 swooshes, or at least what I thought were swooshes haha. My dad agreed, though he knows less about cars than I do so I dunno if that's a fair 2nd opinion rofl.

Oh, and I looked at the exhaust manifold, and it's definitely cast iron, so I'm assuming it's stock

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what size fenders I would need to fit those tires? One of them has a pretty good dent that's in a weird spot so you can't really fix it I don't think. So I was just going to buy new ones, and since I'm buying new ones I figure I may was well get a matching set I like.

I'm pretty sure the current ones are stock and my ride height is high enough to not have any issues. But would 20mm ones look ridiculous on my car? I was only planning to do the front ones...

Thanks for the help.

Here's the Banzai adapter link if you need it. -> Banzai Racing: S4 Power FC Adapter

BNR does great hybrid turbo rebuilds. -> BNR Supercars

Usually there's an authentication sticker on the inside of the bumper.

I absolutely love the FC2000 bumper... That's why I bought it. (Shine replica.) - I cannot get over the look of it. Do you have the lenses for it?

I'll have to check that. And unfortunately no I don't :/ I did find some for like $33 though. I also need the orange blinker plastic cover things, one is really broken however the other is also cracked. I have no idea where to get those though

Alright, so I haven't posted in quite a while - due to the fact that well, I haven't done anything haha. I have found out what I need to do though.

I have to get the engine rebuilt, along with the turbo - the turbine wheel fins are bent? No idea what else is wrong with it. Has pretty much zero shaft play. And I'm going to get the Megasquirt III ECU for the car. So, basically I'm looking at about $4k by the time the engine is in the car, and it's pro tuned (I'd break it worse if I tried to tune it lol). So I've been fairly depressed about it, and failing at saving cause it's a whole lot of money all at once haha. I'm trying to get another job though, and once I have that I think I can get a loan to fix it. I don't have a car payment, so that's my payment plus I need to build credit so I can move out soon-ish (a year or so).

Anyways, in my travels I just picked up an FB tonight. '84 FB 12a GS - RX7Club.com It's going to be my DD as my Explorer died a couple days ago >.< So, for the next little while the majority of my money is probably gonna go to the FB.
