Alex Rodriguez's new daily driver Original FEMALE Owned since 1986!

Well heres the story I met MIchele through Facebook a couple months back. She explained how she had a rx7 that she has owned since day one and wanted to sell it. I asked her to send me pics and maybe I could help her out by passing the word. From my personal experience on my FCs that I built and over the years here on the forums. I learned 86+wear+weather + non routine maintenance = crappy FC.

Was I wrong! From the first picture I wanted it. She was a little curios but didnt want to sell it due to history with it. Over the weeks of communication she called me one day and said she wanted me to have the car and to come so I can see it. She has garage this car for 26 years and driven it until 2011. New motor was put in by Mazda 10yrs ago.

I gained a few things on this FC.
1-friendship from a complete stranger that will last forever
2-one of the cleanest FCs I have ever seen
3- Original owner rx7 with the same title from 1987!!!!!!
4- previous history and a solid future!

Now on to the car.
1986 Mazda rx7 GXL
Original owner and maintained by Mazda dealers

I will post better pics but for now here are a few, note on of the pics has Michele when she was 20 years old the day after she drove it off the Mazda lot with only 11 miles.

My only plans are to degrease the engine and replace anything that needs to with oem parts. Suspension I will continue to use the oem electronic suspension because they still work! Wheels I will swap with 99spec rx7 wheels and interior I will be installing rear seats Saturday along with a FD steering wheel. That's all I will do and maintain it. A/C is super cold ,shifter buzzer still works and still does the accelarated warm up to idle at then to steady 900rpms. Does not smoke or burn oil at all!!!!

It's awesome that you're keeping the car mostly OEM. ^

Awesome! When I bought my FC the previous owner had owned it since the 90's and still had all the window stickers and documentation since new, and I thought that was cool! I keep in touch with email updates, he loves seeing the progress on the car. She must really trust you to give up her baby!

now you must take 5 different color cans of primer and paint it various colors that make no sense, throw on 2 different sets of wheels with mismatched tires and buy about a dozen stickers from ebay to put on the front and rear glass.

just kidding!

looks clean and should have a few miles left in it due to the reman being only 10 years old.

tried to keep my car as unmolested as possible, i still have the original window sticker from 1987..

I think she beat him to the stickers, Ben, but they're on the windshield. She's doing it wrong!!

Nice find, Alex. I had a similar thing happen with an old lady and a '91 coupe. I really wish i would have kept that car.

nice car! enjoy the stockness! i've actually done the same thing with my FC's lately, i've got a couple pieces that i change, like the steering wheel, and then it just stays stock, its so nice just to drive the thing...

i do recommend a non stock alignment, you can really sharpen the thing up when you loose most of the factory toe in

It should burn oil, even if it is a new engine....

did you just fuiguere out about the omp- oil metering pump and Oil injectors? Lol

When I say it doesn't burn oil I mean the following-
1- oil control o-rings are good!

For future reference - there's 2 types of omps electric and manual. Some people remove them and run premix for many reasons ,like me i removed it on my FD because I like the guarantee of constant oil been injected in the motor than relying on the omp.

FYI that's all

I don't really know anyone in this forum, I'm fairly new to this one so I didn't knew about the knowledge you had. Sorry, I thought it was a good thing to tell it for those who don't really know about it. I better like to share my knowledge then letting another fc suffer from misinformation.

I knew about what you said, just didn't knew who I was talking with.

Back to topic, it is really clean, I wish I bought mine like this instead of redoing it.

Continue the good work

No sweat man I didn't perceive you like that. It's always good to let members know some friendly knowledge! I like that you are a new member and are contributing and not asking "crazy 20b swap questions" lol

UPDATE-
1- recieved a new idiot light cluster because mines the clock doesn't work so I want it to work even though I use my watch and phone for time keeping lol
2- I did not think it justifies to pay $38 for a vinyl "Mazda" emblem sticker so I got a set of Mazda and rx7 emblems off a s5 wich I will use thin 3m tape to secure it to the body
3- Wheel adapters are in route in order for me to use the 99 spec wheels on the
4- a set of s4 injectors en route then off to RC engineering for rebuild and cleaning
5-Doing a little trip tomorrow to mazdatrix to pick up a bunch of parts
