88 vert stance/drift build

Hello, Im alex and I have a 88 rx7 vert! Before this car, I have a beat old 86 gxl that was stripped and molested. I decided to buy a blown vert chasis and saw all the good stuff over and start a build!

Although you cant tell, the white coupe had a whole lot of spray paint, bedliner on the roof, and body damage on the left side. I did my best to clean it up before I retired the chassis.

I stripped the whole chasis down, hatch, brakes, lights, fule pump, electronics, EVERYTHING but the diff and axles. I sold most parts, but kept the motor and brakes for the vert.

First motor pulled one left.

Now for the motor, since it was out already i decided to do a maintnence overhaul. No rebuild since I had pretty solid compression. I nended up super cleaning the whole intake and block and replacing most gadgets, orings, did a fuel injector rebuild, atkins oil pellet mod, pilot bearing, thermostat, clutch, rear main seal and RTV everywhere that could leak.

I also did the block off plate kit from LBR speed. Pretty good products.
I also have camber links, dtss emilinatirs, fuel filters, a nardi wheel with nrg quick release, all coolant hoses and more things to come. Also everything off the white gxl like exaust, hydro handbrake, and seats will be going in once the build gets rolling.

Adios, you nasty *****. Im gonna miss ya😭😭
since there was no transmission in the car, the driveline just hung there and was actually ripped out of the diff and folded in half when being loaded on the trailer.

Shame to see that you parted a mostly straight and rust free FC. Here in Ohio, rust free shells are coveted. I have an awesome running 88 GXL that has a very poor body. Still runs and drives great, its just that the paint is shot and the floor and rockers are rotten. At any rate, best of luck with your build. The Convertible roller looks like an excellent car to rebuild.

I know, it was a shame. Its being parted out right now but the actual chasis wasnt straight. It was sad to see it go, but the previous owner put a foam filler all inside the car, glued the sunroof shut, completely stripped the inside and welded the subframe to the diff (super dumb, I know). It was sad to see it go, but the parts that came off will live on.

getting almost ready to pull the blown motor. When the new one goes in, all emissions and unnecessary components will be deleted to simplify and clean up the engine bay.

also, anyone know how to move a thread to the build thread section? Accidentally started this one is the gen discussion section. Woops.
