NV 87 N/A to a hopeful tII

Hey guys,

Just getting this started at the moment as a way to keep track of what I'm currently doing and to collect all the ideas I want done.

Bought the car in 2013 and for most of the time it sat, had a multitude of problems with cooling and electrical. Turns out to be the start of the most frustrating vehicle I've had but also the funnest. Changed water pump, thermostat, and flushed out radiator and block. Still overheating. That's when I first found these forums, no shroud meant I had terrible cooling

Electrical wise, I've dealt with a buzzer that'll kill the tach and go on for days and randomly shut off, a blower motor that has intermittently worked for 2 years, and a bunch of other gremlins that show if it gets too wet under the hood.

So enough with that, on to the plans. Don't want too much to begin with, will be a tight budget at first so I'm looking to swap over a S4 TII engine and drivetrain. Have found many deals that others found before me unfortunately haha.

What's done so far,

Not sure on the full exhaust, all stainless and looks to be 3in, Tanabe Racing muffler
Tanabe springs
Rear KYB AGX struts
S5 tails
Plugs and wires
And the infamous craigslist "rebuild" before I bought it

Soon™ to come

s4 tII engine
tII trans
tII driveshaft
tII rear diff/axles
tII breaks
5 lug swap
fix my interior
weather stripping all around
find the gremlins
s5 tails - done
rear struts - done
change leaky exhaust gaskets

Terrible at attaching photos apparently, but this is it. Hated it at first but once I had cooling down and could get on it... it was over I had a new money sink and scrapped Corolla and 4AGE plans!

The car itself looks clean. I like how the black hood stands out from the rest of the body.

It's pretty clean from a ways and the camera definitely helps. It'll need new paint and a few dents pulled after I get the mechanical side done. Though after a decent car wash and some sun I can pull a few head turns :P

I got some audio of a 1st-3rd start I'll put up.

Good luck with build. Make this forum your best friend. More than likely any questions or concerns you have about the swap, so has 10 other people. Really helped me along the way.

It already is, troll a bunch on my free time. Money and availability of parts will be my problem though. Shipping heavy items isn't cheap

Try to find things local man. You'd be surprised how many rotary people are in your area or know someone that may have parts. Other than large engine components and internals its always great to make your own parts also.

I hear ya there, seems like most of them sold off their extras this summer though. Can't find any parts in my local groups haha!

Not much for updates but did get a few things done.

Changed out rear calipers and rotors, had some metal/metal going for a bit on the pass side haha! Changed out with Hawk pads and like my DD seemed to soften the peddle up some but still stops fine. Did bushings and boots on the tranny shifter. Mine were non existant and this made a night and day difference. Only thing I'm waiting on is a new cluster to hopefully stop the intermittent buzzer going off. Not much of a solder person and picked one up for 35.

Also managed to fit 245/45/18 tires on wheels with a 42mm offset, kinda surprised.
