John most after market coolers cant take the oil flow of a rotary and blow apart have seen this many times . I prefer to use original mazda ones . I would use 2 cosmo oil coolers [Off the 20b ] they are strong and more compact than the other mazda coolers

Thats something what will pass easily thru oil screen, into oil pump and from there straight to oil coolers.....and suprisingly its not caught by oil filters completely either......
I had planned to compose a post regarding how much of that bearing material probably just sat at the bottom since the metal would flow with the oil directly to the oil pan after being "sheared" off and that most settled on the bottom. However, I decided to research instead.

A ~quick~ search revealed a gentleman who claims an engineering background yet absolves any expertise on subject matter and allows the reader to draw their own conclusions from his research. He details many filters and the efficiency or their micron "ratings", anyways, interesting read

And another TSB from Amsoil in 2007

Thanks for learning me something higgi

EDIT: This information also appears to be from what I can tell as 2003?? So things may have changed. Also sorry for Hijacking

I wonder if you really need that much oil pressure.
I suppose you choose the position of the oil injection point into the bearings in conjunction with the "big bang point" of the individual rotors to create a high pressure wave in the film?
I hope you know what i mean.😱
Better go for high volume, rather than high pressure (there is a difference).
Besides at high pressure you may have problems with "choked flow" as oil has a relatively high viscosity when cold.
Just a thought.

Just bi-pass the frigging coolers so we can hear the music...... !!

Yep, I'm in greece at the moment. Oil coolers and ignition modules are waiting for me back home, so can't wait to get back and get it running!

I have been building and racing rotary powered cars for 35+ years and have a set rule as to how much oil pressure you need I use 10 lb pressure for every 1,000 rpm + 10 lb witch = 13b bp or pp max rpm 10,000 rpm =110 lb pressure at normal operating temp ,have done this with all my race motors and customer ones as well and never had a bearing failure or oil problem .

Man that is awesome. Ain't nothing like having your own CNC and the skill also save some coin on making your own e-shaft. Damn I need to get a CNC. What program are you running autocad or soild works. That dose not look like bobcad lol.

Yeah, no CNC for John here. He's doing it all the old-fashioned way (besides using Solidworks).

Fixed the oil coolers, there is a set of RX-8 coolers in there now, had to hack up the aluminium vents a bit, add some brackets and change the oil lines but now it fits and works. Also replaced the cheap ignition modules with real bosch ones. The cheap ones were wierd, they would fire the coil, but some of the plugs weren't sparking as strong as others. Swapped the modules and it's fixed. So spend some more time messing with the ecu and now it actually runs and idles , here is a vid of it:

Still messing with it, the ignition timing is off, it's way retarded and changing the trigger settings doesn't seem to do a lot. the AFR values are way off aswell, it reads about 1:10 - 1:11 at idle, and if I start to lean it out the engine dies. The AFR is probably off because of all the misfiring, but that usually causes the meter to read lean, not rich. No major troubles though, so I'm happy .
