2000+ rpm idle
My fc has been sitting a while. I start it up once a month, but the past 6 months the plugs fouled, changed them and the wires. Cleaned the throttle body . Still have super high idle. Checked timing its good. I don't want to adjust to many things but I
did. Like the idle screw throttle linkage screw. Have the factory manuel all the adjustments in there I have tried ,still have 2000+ rpm idle. Is my automatic choke stuck or broken? Please help its summer time I want to drive the red dragon again lol thanks.

You need to check out the throttle cable and or Cruise Control cable to see if they are keeping the throttle plates open. An easy way to do this would be to press upwards on the throttle linkage on the front of the car while it idles to see if the idle speed drops or not. You could also have a vacuum leak that is unmetered air or perhaps the BAC is faulty. You could unplug the BAC while idling to see if it makes a difference. And the Fast Idle Cam mechanism on the rear of the throttle body could cause this problem if it were acting improperly.

I was reading other threads this morning and found alot.Been working on it this morning and early after noon. Got it to 750 on a sears tachometer. but in car say 1500. Going to cut out cruise control c'mon its a 5 speed.

So the Sears tachometer says 750, dash reads 1500.
750 x 2 = 1500
Something's off on your Sears tachometer. Setting probably? Hopefully you've tried the stuff Satch said. I'll add that if you can't get the idle down because of either the throttle plates being physically stuck open or the BAC is stuck, then spray the intake manifold down with some carburetor cleaner (brake cleaner or throttle body cleaner works too, don't use starting fluid). If you find you hit a spot that causes the idle to drop or the engine runs smoother, you've found a vacuum leak.
And I'm going to start using this little picture I made for all the future non-build threads. Now that I've added something constructive, I can't feel guilty for using it.

Thanks and my fault for the wrong entry for the thread. But I feel stuck. I should know how to fix this , I got frustrated and sent a cry for help. Maybe in the wrong section, I did find a lot of similar answers and problems in the archives .Thanks all.
