That's going to fly down that 1/4 mile. That much power in a lightened package, going to be nice.

 

The motor is from a preacher at my work. The motor in his 71 camaro ran 12.40's consistant. Best run was a 12.20 all motor. So If I run high 11's I will be sooooo thrilled !

 

That Camaro weighs a lot too, being as light as the RX7 will be you should be in the 11's easily.

 

The only thing is im running a drag radial tire not full slick. I'm going to install a pinion snubber to help preload the rear. As long as there isnt any wheel hop , im happy.

 

Drag radials will slow you down for sure, but you'll still pull good times. Wheel will be the problem though, so get that straightened out

 

Just traded my handgun i had for rx7 parts ! got Autometer Phantom Guages; Tach, Spedo, Oil Pressure, Trans Temp, Water Temp, and fuel level. Need to buy Volt, Oil Temp, Fuel Pressure, Vacuum. Also got a Hurst V-Matic ratchet shifter for my th-350. Ill post pics soon.

As soon as my na rear explodes , ill be upgrading to the FC 8.8 IRS mounting kit.

 

That shifter is going to look so weird in the RX7, I've never seen a hurst shifter in one.

 

My entire car will be one of a kind, hence my choice of engine bay color of Grabber Green. I want to stand out from the crowd with this build ! Hate it or Love it, so far i love every aspect of the car.

 

Are you going to paint the entire car that color? It'll stand out for sure, I dig that color.

 

Thought about it, i would love to do it all grabber green (matt). Im afraid id catch the attention of the LAW too easy. Black will blend in more, also at night. But my 400hp v8 might get more attention than green paint...

 

Got to test drive the 81 camaro that has my engine. Wow, never driven a 12 sec car ! I picked up 2 race seats for $100. Got free engine parts; chrome valve covers, demon 750 carb, msd ignition and distributor. Pics coming soon. Maybe a video of the engine if i can upload. Pulling motor on friday !

I've never driven anything close to a 12sec car, nor have I ever been on a drag strip.

 

How will registering this car work?
In many states, you can't swap in a motor that's older than your chassis.

 

I know that my car is an antique here in VA as it's an 88 and I can put whatever I want in it. OP's car is a 90 so I don't know how that'd work.

 

My car is 23yrs old. In MD if its 20yrs old or older, you can tag it under Historic. No inspection, no emissions. PA is 25yrs for Historic tags.

 

Pulled the engine last night.

 

Got the 357 onto an engine stand for parts install, soon ill tape off the rest for Black Paint 550 deg F .

 

Installed Chrome Valve Covers, Demon 750 4b carb

 

Taped off the motor for Black 550 deg F .
