Turbo spare tire

10AE specific smooth leather speakerless door panels. The Convertible seats will be done in a smooth black leather instead of perforated so they will match these door panels.

10AE Horn Button and Turbo Gauges. I need to find a better steering wheel. You can see that the 10AE headlight washer button is not installed, well, because we do not have an extra one. We however found that some switches have the option built into the switch already, it just doesn't have the graphics showing the headlight washer. If your cold weather switch (the switch that raises the headlights without turning them on) can be pushed in, then it is able to operate headlight washers. We had a couple of them in the shop, and I installed it and it does work the washers. We are looking for the correct one with the graphic on it though if anyone knows where one is.

Brand new MOMO 10AE shift **** and boot installed, as well as the factory CD player. 10AE's did not come with CD players, they came with tape player and equalizer, but CD was an option for Turbo and Convertible. Since Mazda was still using both Clarion and Pioneer, the tape with equalizer was Clarion, and the CD player was Pioneer, and the wire harnesses where totaly different. This particular Convertible was wired for the CD, so that is what we installed. We may later swap out the harness and radio for the Clarion unit to match Daves 10AE Coupe that has the Clarion. All three 10AE Coupes that we have here have the Clarion system, and I have yet to see a picture of a 10AE with factory CD, so I beleive that none of the 1500 AE's made came with CD.

Convertible taillights painted primer white just for effect untill a complete paint job is done on the car.

Wheels and tires on and the car is now driveable.

Custom white soft top will be added once the car has been torn down and restored. I have one more suprise for the car that I will be working on over the next couple of weeks. I don't beleive that what I will be doing has ever been done with a vert. Stay tuned.

My 88 TII has that aluminum diffuser as well. It came as part of the aero package along with the thin rubber chin spoiler, aero mirrors with holes near the A pillar, small rubber diffusers in front of the rear wheels (where side skirts would be on S5 TII's), and the spoiler. Those parts lowered the drag coefficient from .31 on standard FC's to .29 if I remember correctly.

Check this out: https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generati...ackage-843780/

Great work on the vert by the way. It's a great idea and will be a nice tribute when finished.

Just a question...

Where did you find NOS floormats? that's the only thing I am missing in my 10 AE. did you have replicas made or does mazda actually still have some of these?

Dave has had the floormats and shiftknobs/boots for a very long time. I beleive he got them from the dealer when they were still available.

Damn, I was hoping to hear otherwise, about the floormats, oh well. Im going to have replicas made and already had replica patches made up to sew in.

So is this car going to get resprayed inside and out or is the engine staying in there for good?

I also vote for the bronze tint.

After I am done building and piecing together, Dave has plans to dismantle intire car and restore.

Yep, bronze tint is planned. The windshield we had was cracked, and we can't use coupe windows, so bronze tint will be used.

There is a guy on eBay that goes by 13B1 or something like that, he makes very acurate 10AE patches for the floor mats. I have a set for my 10AE coupe, and they look like factory.

Yup, those are the ones I bought too, I also bought the key since someone smashed out my ignition years ago trying to steal it. mazda got rid of the 10AE key and gave me the one that came with the new ignition key. bastards

That sucks. Dave somehow has three sets of NOS 10AE lock sets with keys. I was lucky enough to get one of the sets for my 10AE coupe, and he is using the other two for this vert anf his coupe.
