1987 MAZDA RX7 Powered by a built lt1 and a gn 2004r trans

How I bought it, what it is! Most fun I had behind wheel so far...after Ferrari 430:
the motor
rebuilt lt1 bottom end the heads have been ported and polished heads opened up to 2.02 and 1.60 stainless valve and comp springs with 7/16 screw in studs intake has been port matched to the heads and opened up to fit the bbk twin 58mm throttle body 42lb hour injectors comp cam cc303 double roller timing chain csr electric water pump 1.7 roller rockers trick flow hardened push rods ls1 lifters and the car is tunned for e85 just needs a finnal tune on dyno and the car also have nitrous in it but you need selinods a line lost them when i built the new motor
the trans
grand national 2004r it has all good stuff in it alto red clutches bulit 2nd gear servo and mutch more the trans does need one thing to make it good is a tci constant presure valve body the stall is around 2700 and it is a lock up converter the car was put together with granny speed v8 conversion headman headers full custom exhaust

Good thing that I tore down car myself...I'm finding missing bolts, I identified plugs & wires, and just some weird mods done by previous owner.

I wanted to try to keep a journal and blog going with my teardown and build like the others I see, but I don't find myself or my knowledge (or lack there of) too interesting. But, weather started warming, so I went out to garage to start working on the car and found that water seeped into it, and covered the entire floor with 1/4" thick ice. Fortunately, I had most of the parts I took off and my tools off the floor, but the moisture content is so massive, everything is becoming damp due to the thawing. I rescued the items sitting on floor, seats, exhaust, and other items, and moved into house to prevent rusting. But, now I'm stuck with having to de-ice garage floor and dehumidify it before I can really start working again. Not sure how lon it's going to take, but really put a damper on spirits (no pun intended).

Nice! Thanks for the tip. I am kind o shakes with introducing salt to rust-free car's house. And with so much stuff froze to the floor, there's not a lot of open floor. Since the weather here is unpredictable, warm one day and below freezing the next, with high humidity levels. I decided today to fire up the torpedo and my dehumidifier while temps above freezing. I'm hoping the melt and evaporate and dry the majority out before alternative measures. We will se how next few days play out. Until we get steady temps above 60 degrees, I can't fix the root cause of the water infiltration. Murphy is a real A-hole! lol

While I had some parts moved into a controlled temp environment, I decided to practice painting some small parts to work on my technique. I think they turned out OK- despite really only following rattle can's directions on second part (starter).

Took exhaust to sandblast this morning. Like the results for $50 DIY booths - few more parts to get blasted and painted before reassembly - these are couple before pix

autocorrect sucks! New link bushings in kit, and how to press the old out, was the question- also, I bought a set of adjustable links - wondering if I should use them to replace front or rear end links. Which is best resulted outcome? Car is for drag racing and street use, and not replacing front bushings until next year, only rear rebuild right now. Thanks

Getting it all together now- having trouble seating the new feeling bushings in diff...think I need bigger hammer lol. All the new bushings, I installed in rear, from Energy went in easy, except the diff ones. The bushing kit is well worth it's salt for value.

Put the rear subframe assembly up since I couldn't seat the bushings with 2lb sledge and wood block. I was hoping the the weight of car would sear the bushings for me, but it doesn't seem that they are budging...so back hinder tonight to drop rear again. If anyone has suggestions before I do so, please let me know. I tried heat from my micro torch, but didn't seem to move, and didn't want to get the bushing too hot. This is last hurdle to get over before I pick up trans and drive out...1yr out of commission so I'm thirsty for some fumes!

run that diff up to a shop with a press. Are you certain you got the metal sleeve out of the diff from the old bushing? I notice a ton of people miss that little bastard.

Well, I got the old bushings out in one - thank heavens - I have seen many posts prior to taking on project talking about that sleeve. I finally got the busing to seat properly with some extra 3lb sledge & 4x4 persuasion. The tolerances with the bushing are extremely tight with no wiggle room. I know over the winter I am taking down front, and the write-ups say I will definitely need a press.

Thanks. Yeah, the little driving I did do were definitely a bit scary I must interview. To me, there is nothing like the sound of a Chevy V8
